They are poppin' the champaigne over at DU. The general take? Somehow or another, they have come to the conclusion that this will lead to their goal of impeaching GWB.

Thay also think we are bummed. Since all of us can see this for the silly partisan ploy it is, I think most of us are smirking or even out right laughing.

When this fizzles, and it will, I can't wait to be there with a big 'ol helping of Schadenfreude.

he's been replaced already as majority leader

Maybe it's like a baseball manager being thrownout of the game. They usually can be found hiding behind a chair in the dugout still calling the game.

Delay is out in name but not necessarily in power

He said something about Earle telling the lawyers, or DeLay, that there would be an indictment because of a runaway grand jury. This happened last week? DeLay waived the statue of limitations in order to get indicted?

Sorry, I think I have a heat stroke. I'm befuddled....

Is DeLay the guy who said he'd gotten rid of all the wasteful government spending? Same guy who rammed through all the "highway" and "energy" porkage this summer?

What a guy. Send him to prison just for that.

What is the AP hiding? A link to a story on DeLay/Earle I bookmarked less than 3 weeks ago is suddenly dead.

It appears from the story that Earle doesn't even have jurisdiction over DeLay.

From the google cache (Sept. 9, 2005):

DeLay, R-Texas, was not indicted by a Travis County grand jury in the charges made public Thursday, although three of his political associates were charged earlier. District Attorney Ronnie Earle, a Democrat, said he had no jurisdiction over DeLay's personal conduct.

Left wing media spin.

Delay is not named in the indictment.Only John Colyandro, the former executive director of a Texas political action committee formed by DeLay, and Jim Ellis, who heads DeLay's national political action committee are named. DeLay is named as a defendant because he heads up the action committee. DeLay's name is not on the back of the $100,000 check (endorsement) The prosecutor said DeLay was guilty in a "roundabout way". When are you found guilty in a "roundabout way"? Delay stepping down is all the proof needed for the Left to declare him guilty.

Brit did that very well. A hot seat but a fair and balanced hotseat.

Brit Hume does his homework. Nine times out of ten he knows the issues better than his interviewee. There is no one close to him. Well, maybe Tony Snow.

DeLay waived the statue of limitations in order to get indicted?

Hey, I am not saying it is a good strategy. I am just saying trusting to his innocents Delay may WANT a trial to clear his name. Risky strategy but I am not a TX politican. If this goes in front of a Clinton Judge Delay will be hung for ideological reasons. This whole thing makes me sick.

why would DeLay consent to extend the statue of limitations?

Then they can't say he would have been convicted but for the technicality. Heheheh. Now there won't be a conviction because there is no guilt. Meet them head on...as long as you know you have a winner, which DeLay seems to have.

Sure is room for someone to take over this role, since Russert sold out to be DNC boy on Meet the Irrelevent.

The prosecutor said DeLay was guilty in a "roundabout way". When are you found guilty in a "roundabout way"?

When you are indicted on a conspiracy charge, the weakest of all possible legal indictments.

Missy didnt even know how to respond - look for a clarification from her before the end of the show to dispute the charge, as written by her producer.

Okay, here's the spelling to point out there is only one "t" in Brit Hume's name.
