The detention and accidental shootings of journalists is limiting how journalists can operate, wrote David Schlesinger, the Reuters global managing editor, in a letter to Senator John Warner, head of the armed services committee.
The bit about John Warner bothers me. Perhaps we should remind him that our Troops operate under chaotic and dangerous conditions. It is a war, after all, and the judgements made by commanders on the ground should be respected.

Well if Will Piper Pitt can face the war zone of Texas to stand beside the ditch witch with shotguns going off, the media can report from a war zone.

Do something about it Reuters! Don't write about it, do something! You can't so, stfu!
Sorry, this is tacky guys, but I'm so sick of it!
To: narby
No wonder our guys cannot discern whether the "reporters" are friend or foe.
They are the foe and the troopers know it.
Fraggin anyone?

"Samir Mohammed Noor, a freelance cameraman working for Reuters, was arrested by Iraqi troops at his home in the northern town of Tal Afar four months ago.
A US military spokesman has told the agency that a secret hearing held last week had found him to be "an imperative threat to the coalition forces and the security of Iraq"."
Sounds like the Iraqi's know who the real enemy is...
And willing to take the steps necessary to preserve life , limb and liberty.
Like the US did during WW2
To: CommieCutter
Of course Reuters is silent on the chilling effect the terrorists are having on reporters too afraid to leave the "Green Zone' patrolled by, you guessed it, US troops.
Seditious Hypocrites all!!

The detention and accidental shootings of journalists is limiting how journalists can operateThe journalists' actions have limited the success of our troops. So many journalists, so little time!

During the Civil War, General W.T. Sherman regarded all reporters as spies. When they help the enemy more than you, you ought to treat them as such.

"At least 66 journalists and media workers, most of them Iraqis, have been killed in the country since March 2003."
How many by U.S. troops? How many by terrorists? Report you "stuck on stupid" reporters!
"US forces admitted killing three Reuters journalists"
Oh, sorry I didn't read the next sentence. We killed three of the 66 dead reporters.
"He noted that the US military had failed to implement recommendations by its own inquiry into the death of award-winning Palestinian cameraman Mazen Dana, who was shot dead while filming outside Abu Ghraib prison in August 2003."
Image that. An award-winning Palestinian cameraman outside Abu Ghraib got shot. I can only image why...
since they omit the facts, that only leaves my imagination

Yeah you bastards! step outside your safety net and meet and greet the ones you defend!
The best thing the military could do, is do their best to find out who's who of the media, and if their acts are treasonous. If they are, then drop those bastards outside the greenzone and let them fend for themselves.
To: GSlob; Chieftain
The top priority in a war certainly should always be the care and safety of the journalists. So maybe our Armed Services Committee needs to contact our Generals in the Battle Zone. The Generals can then immediately redfine the execution of our war efforts to meet the most important priority---Journalists. Any military plans must be cleared 24 hours in advance by Reuters! This would allow sufficient time for Reuters reporters to file their work agenda for the next day.
The above suggestions would give Reuters reporters the dignity and top priority they deserve. After, all, what's more important than that? Winning a war? Protecting our troops and Iraqi civilians?
Don't be silly!
