I am still out on whether all the stories of crimes being committed against fellow citizens were lies.

In a previous situation the Superdome became so out of control that it was deemed not fit for an evacuation center.

Somewhere lies the truth.

I love the way the media makes heroes out of guys who have absolutely no contribution to catching criminals. Moose had no part at all in the capture and probably in fact harmed the investigation.

I also recall several movies tv shows etc. about the guys from Seatle who caught Ted Bundy. Actually it was a Florida cop who caught him and Florida which executed him.

Same place the bus drivers checks went.

I hadn't thought of that.

I'm afraid we're going to discover that a lot of those missing police officers are similar to democrat voters. They never really existed.

I'll bet if you check the voter rolls, all these phantom cops voted in the last election.

Suicide?????Maybe he was killed.

Wow, talk about clumsy, desperate attempts at damage control. They knew the lid was coming off. This has all the elements.

NOPD Chief resigns

02:38 PM CDT on Tuesday, September 27, 2005

WWLTV.com

NOPD Superintendent Eddie Compass resigned from his position at a 2 p.m. press conference Tuesday.

No details were given and no questions were answered including who would become the next superintendent.

Compass, in his announcement, said he had always wanted to be police chief and that he had led the city through some of its toughest times, including Hurricane Katrina.

“Everyone in a leadership position has to know when it’s time to step down,” he said.

Compass had come under some criticism in the press lately on charges that he had exaggerated the amount of death and crime at the Superdome and the Convention Center in the aftermath of Katrina.

He issued a stinging rebuke that questioned the police department’s unity in the hours after the city had finally been fully evacuated of displaced citizens. During that rebuke he called officers who had vacated their posts without reason “cowards.”

Compass also had two of his officers commit suicide in the storm’s aftermath.

“It’s a sad day when a hero like Eddie Compass makes a decision like this,” said Nagin.

Nagin added that Compass’ wife, who is eight months pregnant, is undoubtedly elated with the decision.

He compared Compass stepping down at a young age to former football star Jim Brown retiring at the height of his football career.

FNC had the NOLA Police Chief news conf. CNN did not have it.. and Wolfie was reporting on the stories that were lied about at Superdome, then he went over to a reporter who told him about the Police Chief quitting.....

LOTS OF CYA going down.

"I figure Nagin knew about it."

I don't. He's only been mayor a short time, ran on a "clean politics" ticket. He sure sounded like he believed 500 officers skedaddled.

"This is kinda funny... he goes on television and slams the president repeatedly."

I watched local feeds closely. He did not do that. His criticisms were coupled with the same at Blanco for them to "figure out the chain of command" - which Bush, everyone admits now was a problem. The national press lied and exaggerated when they say Nagin went after Bush. There was even a phase where Blanco's spinners were blaming Nagin.

I noted in his speech. Commish Compass said he consulted "men of God". Has he not heard there is a seperation of church and state? Wow, wouldn't you love to hear this guys "confession" if you were a priest in New Orleans. Bet it was juicy, to say the least.

[pointing at a mounted moose on the wall]
Arthur: Where's the rest of this moose?
Burt Johnson: Arthur, I think it's time we got to know one another.
Arthur: I do too. That's why I had to come over today. Hmhmhmhm. This is a tough room.
[pats the moose]
Arthur: I don't have to tell you that.
[points to the moose again]
Arthur: You must've hated this moose.
Burt Johnson: Why don't you forget the moose for a moment!

Do you think this disgrace is responsible for that little old lady getting jumped and dragged out of her home because she had a small pistol?

That picture is seared in my memory.

"There was an FBI investigation about Police Officers on the Payroll ... but no people to match the names"

Maybe that's what all that cash in the LA representative's freezer was all about, not to mention those 'documents' he wanted to retrieve, "hell or high water" if you know what I mean.
