ABC insiders deny there's any connection between real-life presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and their new TV show "Commander-in-Chief" - where Geena Davis makes her debut tonight as America's first woman president.
But it turns out the show's lead writer is a longtime Clinton campaign insider who held a top job in Hillary's press office.
"Writer Steve Cohen used to work for her in the 1990s, serving as the then-first lady's deputy communications director," reports the Village Voice.
"I have no doubt she is capable, qualified, and ready to be the president of the United States should she choose to run," Hillary's scriptwriter tells the paper.
In fact, Mr. Cohen goes all the way back with the Clintons to their very first presidential campaign.
"I was Governor Clinton's first campaign volunteer in 1991, fresh out of college, took that journey to the White House and spent two years working for President Clinton in his press office," he told National Public Radio last year.
The "Commander-in-Chief" writer followed that gig with a three-and-a-half year stint as Mrs. Clinton's deputy communications director.
In fact, Cohen is so tight with Hillary's top brass that he once shared an apartment with the top Democrat's chief fundraising coordinator, Patti Solis Doyle.
In an interview with Newsweek in 1992, Cohen marveled at the exalted positions he and Doyle had achieved.
"You're doing the scheduling for Hillary Clinton and I'm flying around the country with a person who could be the next president of the United States," he recalled telling her. "Give me a break!"
Despite Cohen's deep Clinton ties, "Commander-in-Chief" creator Rod Lurie tells the Voice that he modeled his female president not on Hillary, but on Susan Lyne, the former head of ABC who now runs the Martha Stewart empire.
As for Cohen, he insists: "We support the notion of a female president from either side of the aisle."
MSM: "What media bias?!?!"
I'd rather watch Martha Stewart reruns...

No, the same preconditions apply to the VP as to the POTUS......
Yes, and in typical liberal fashion, she thought that playing a president on television has "qualified" her to run for the office someday.
At what point does a political ad disguised as a TV show break some kind of TV law?
Gee, what a complete surprise - NOT!!!!
So far we have found out:
Shows producer/creator is French
Genna Davis is a democrat
Donald Sutherland is a democrat
The show is being written by a Hillary supporter.
But ofcourse ABC claims there is no bias or political agenda behind this show at all.
"A military-hater from day one, and they hate her, it is doomed to fail. The thought of it is repulsive and scary."
A hillary presidency will result in massive resignations in the military. They will have to enact a draft to make up for it. But the drafted will still hate her, even the more that they had to go unwillingly. It will be a perfect opportunity for osama and gang to strike again. Hillary is their best chance to finally do in America.
The best place to hide something is right out in front of everybody......
From what I've seen in the commericals, it starts off with an unlikely hypothesis anyway.
The pres-nominee selects an independent (G Davis) as his running mate.
What politician from either majority party would ever do such a thing? It would be political suicide.
It is TV. It isn't reality.
Of course, if it has any political intent, it is to pave the way for acceptance of female President. Now, just who might the most wanna-wannabe be?
Don't you love how Hollywood/TV always get some left wing moonbat like Sutherland or Alan Alda to play these arch conservative nazi's? Hollywood is so NUTZ!
Same here, don't watch their t.v. shows, don't go to their movies, don't buy their music...PERIOD! I can't stand any type of celebrity, they all tip their hand and show their true colors eventually. Although, I may have to watch once, so that I can e-mail my displeasure at their very-obvious bias.
I'm praying for a Reagan-conservative to break free of the pack for '08.
The over/under on episodes run before the VRWC surfaces is 2.
ping
I thought the very same thing when I first heard about it.
To be sure. And then it will be cancelled in December of '08.
Davis is a boring and uninspiring actress. I'll be watching something else. Anything else.
The VP must meet the same critera/restrictions as the President. The term limit for Presidents also applies to running as VP.
