It's unrealistic to think a job of this size can be done with mistakes being made, they are looking for a scapegoat in Roberts. If they want miracles, call on Chicago's Mayor Daley, he can raise the dead on election day!

then why declare a FEDERAL disaster area BEFORE the storm hits? Isn't FEMA a FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY?

Because it facilitates the response of the federal government. Once the area has been declared a federal disaster area, then the USG can obligate funds and take other actions. It is required by law.

We need UPS or FedEx to handle FEMA logistics.

Or Wal-Mart.

During the day Friday, the storm was tracking further and further to the west, by 5 PM, NO was clearly in the path, close to the center of the cone:

I can tell you that there are a lot of Successful men that have so-called "trophy" wives who in the "gay" vernacular are called "Fag Hags". They have Girlfriends and wives that are wonderful for their careers, and the gals have a successful man that can get them ahead in their careers because of his influence. She has her love life, and he has his Gay lifestyle that is usually not questioned. I used to not know any of this crap, and I wish I was ignorant of it now.

Dream on. Unfortunately, good dems never admit wrongdoing and don't resign. Only Republicans do that. Nagin won't resign and Blanco will run again. I hope the Louisiana voters have the sense not to reelect her, but I wouldn't bet on it. Also, look for a movement to allow absentee voting for former residents to cast ballots from wherever then now reside.

Name calling. How mature. If it was pre-positioned as you say, why did they not disperse it after the storm hit? Why did it take days?

So the federal government can call state troops to go to Iraq, but how dare the state call up a federal agency to help the state?

The governor of each state has got to, by LAW, request federal troops. How can you not know this? And the Governor did not do that for a VERY long time. She has admitted, on camera, that she was late doing that and regrets it.

If it were as corrupt as you say, they would have some former governor in prison for taking bribes from some shady character who also pled guilty for getting a casino in NO.

Ummm .. The Former Governor is in a Fed Jail serving a 10 year sentence

Exactly, it's like fighting a war. A war is a series of calamaties that result in victory. Think about WWII. There were many accidents and SNAFUs that occurred that got many killed, the bottom line is that we won. Overall FEMA did a good job, but they couldn't save everybody. So the media only focuses on the negatives without talking about the many successes.

You're exactly right; doesn't it make you wonder what world these people live in?

I nearly died when I heard somebody talking about prepositioning PORTAJOHNS on the interstates so people would have some place to go to the bathroom!

I have a suggeston: why don't people LEAVE IN TIME?

Before this crisis NOLA had been #3 on the FBI's list of prosecutions for public corruption even though it is only #35 in population!!! Now as the NOPD and other corruption scandals emerge, NOLA will shoot to #1 in public corruption prosecutions -- but since a lot of its population will not return it will probably only be around #200 in population!! Un-frickin-believable....

How much do you want to bet Nagin is padding the voter rolls?

How much do you want to bet that Nagin wants people back in NO to protect Federal Welfare programs for the government.

If NO gets too "un-wealfared" he will loose $$$$$$.
