Name calling. How mature. If it was pre-positioned as you say, why did they not disperse it after the storm hit? Why did it take days?
I repeat: you're either dense or deliberately being obtuse.
Do you not know that FEMA had to withdraw because they were being shot at? I watched the press conference on Wednesday and they said that between the water levels and being shot at, they had to withdraw temporarily.
And STILL the Governor did not ask for federal troops to help quell the civil unrest.
Ever been caught in a disaster zone? You think FEMA has disintegrator beams or anti-grav to immediately clear a path to where the stuff is needed? Sheesh. It takes time. That's why folks should make plans to fend for themselves for the first 72 hours at least. If you chose not to, that's not the FEMA's fault.
Ah, they did. Just not as fast as you "instant graticiation" people wanted it.
Why did it take days?
Because that's how long it takes. It's not OUR fault you didn't listen to the NHC and government's advice to store 3 to 5 days worth of food and water to get you through the rough times.
What's wrong with you people who can't even "maintain" for a couple of days without whining?
It was an act of God, for goodness sakes.
>>>If it was pre-positioned as you say, why did they not disperse it after the storm hit? Why did it take days?<<<
Because folks from Mississippi are supposed to be self-reliant, Moe; and not whining, selfish little brats like we find on the welfare plantations.
She hesitated and MET WITH LAWYERS to decide responsibility for the looting etc that SHE KNEW would happen because she and her filthy brand of politics and friends were only too aware of their failure to implement a solid evacuation plan for the most desperate of NO areas.
Bringing in the FEDS in such a situation means the spotlight is going to come along as well.
And it did.
This woman and the Mayor banked on katrina missing them. And it did not. And people were left confused and unprepared because their government at the local level FAILED to act responsibly until it was too late. They waited until they KNEW katrina was going to make a direct hit. Period.
And now all of the financial movement of moneys away from the levee projects, their failure of evacuation plans, they lies about the actual size of their police force and on and on is coming to light.
It is SAD that our President had to make a call to beg them to execute a mandatory evacuation.
And it is SAD that blanco ordered FEMA and the RED CROSS to hold off, until the the area was safe (the looters were shooting) and it is SAD that she and nagin decided that SUPPLIES should NOT BE DELIEVERED to the dome because they did not WANT the people to stay there....
It was a mess because the local and state people were corrupt, had not done their jobs, were then not able to coordinate with FEMA because they HAD NOT OPERABLE PLANS.
Other states who HAD DONE THEIR JOBS----had NO PROBLEM. Period.
" If it was pre-positioned as you say, why did they not disperse it after the storm hit? Why did it take days?"
It's my understanding that FEMA only has about 2,500 employees. Included in that total are the ones needed to do procurement and other tasks to assure the goods are purchased, staged and moved. The size of the disaster area was about the size of the country of Great Britain (IIRC about 90,000 square miles) - - that's not many folks per area. If you didn't get the goods you felt you needed, that's too bad; however, even before 9/11 and especially thereafter, we've been told numerous times to have a MINIMUM of 3 days worth of food, water, medicines, etc.
And, with the advance warning by the hurricane center and the weather folks on all the stations, I don't understand why people didn't evacuate. Did you not have transportation? Isn't there someone you could have called?Did you not have a friend that could help? Did MO not provide transportation for those who didn't have it? If you had transportation, did you try to help someone out who didn't?
I really feel for the poor people and devastation down there, but, if it had been me and my family, if we were told to evacuate, we would have been out of there whatever it took.
