Snow says the FBI is investigating that the police officers who "abandoned their posts" in NO, didn't really exist in the first place.

Doesn't it make sense now why after 5 days of stress-full work, Nagin had to send them to Las Vegas for R & R?

We DO NEED republicans on the committee to get indignant and ask hard questions, or else it will look like the committee is a whitewash.

Brown would do well not to get too emotional...

Oh... I don't know. I'd like to see him passionately tell them that they are stuck on stupid. I wouldn't mind if he stood up ... walked up to their inquisition desks and told them they were STUCK ON STUPID.

Tony Snow: FBI investigating 500 NOLA cop names, finding only 80 exist.

Tony promises more on this bombshell.

NO must be one hellacious bed of corruption.

Which explains exactly why the governor, the senator, and mayor came out of the gate blaming Bush, et al.

I wonder if they want an investigation into how all that money was spent down there?

Chris Shays was grandstanding. He sounded like a liberal Democrat.

Brown is not qualified to answer if they should rebuild NO under water. He should have said, NO was already given the money years ago to build the levys, where did it go?

Good question.

Beginning to understand how things work in NO, seems they are starting an investigation, probably using our TAX DOLLARS to fund it, knowing it is a false investigation, and planing to pocket the funding given to see it thru. Geeeeeeeez.

Brown did what he could have done underthe circumstances. The Government cannot come in and push the locals around unless there is an overthrow of the government. There was not any kind of coup going on, and as horrible as it sounds the Feds are stuck with a corrupt State, local, and County Government. It is up to the citizens to make sure that their elected officials are ready, willing and able to do their job. States have sovereignty and must maintain that status. It is foolish to think that you can just take over a State in America. We have a constitution. Maybe the citizens can all get together and take over Baton Rouge next time in a coup, and then beg the Feds to come in. Judging by the horrible mess those crooks in charge in LA made a coup would have been less painful for the State.

A hilarious moment was when William Jefferson, the Dem. crook from NO who had the National Guard tie up several trucks and personnel to get him to his Uptown house so he could get incriminating evidence in his computer (my take), was questioning Michael Brown on his competence. Honestly, you can't get too weird when talking about LA politics.
The most sensible thing Brown said was that he made a mistake in spending too much time talking to the press during the emergency. The next FEMA chief should refuse to be interviewed by anyone until the emergency is OVER. The banshees in the msm will howl like mad...unless there's a Democrat administration in power, of course.

I wonder if the truth will ever come out -- or are there so many butts that would be burned, they're just going to take the easy way out and blame Bush and Brown.

Gov. Elmira Fudd failed to include Orleans Parish (city of NOLA) in her initial pre-storm disaster aid request.

Shays is correct about one thing, and it is what sunk Brown -- Brown is too much of a "operational" guy, follows the rules of law, follows procedure, follows process, but doesn't PUSH HARD to get things fixed when it breaks. He simply didn't push hard enough to correct the problems he saw with the local people.

Shays is full of it.

What else can Brown do here? Blanco zealously guarded her powers throughout this fiasco. All Brown can do is report up the chain to Chertoff and Bush. And even Bush has limited powers in that situation, unless he were to invoke the Insurrection Act over the wishes of Blanco.

What Shays and many Dems are doing is deliberately obfuscating the powers and responsibilities of the governor in this situation.

Brown says it was shocking that Blanco excluded NOLA from the original emergency declaration.

Its apparent that the Reps are going to lynch this guy to save there rear ends as well as the White Houses

Funny coming from a Moveon.org "Conservative" who spent the 1st week after Katerina hit howling for Brown's head since he was a "Bush Crony". Please do not insult our intelligence by pretending you are anything but a knee jerk Bush hater.
