Monday, Sept. 26, 2005 7:39 p.m. EDT Bill Maher: Laura Bush Like 'Hitler's Dog'
HBO "Real Time" host Bill Maher compared First Lady Laura Bush to "Hitler's dog" during his Friday night cablecast, after flashing a parody photo of Mrs. Bush with a black eye, as if she'd been a victim of domestic abuse.
After the photo display, Maher was challenged by guest panelist Christopher Hitchens, who told him: "It must be to [George Bush's] credit he got Laura Bush to marry him. She's an absolutely extraordinary woman."
To that, Maher replied: "Oh, come on. That's like Hitler's dog loved him. That is the silliest reason. ..."
"I think tomorrow you might be sorry you said that. Laura Bush is very gentle and talented," Hitchens warned.
With that Maher retreated a bit, insisting: "That's not what I'm saying, of course she is. But the idea that we somehow humanize any person because somebody else loves them is
ridiculous."
The outrageous exchange, reported exclusively by NewsMax contributor Steve Malzberg in his latest column, "Laura Bush and Hitler's Dog" - wasn't the worst to come from Maher's show lately.
The week before, "Real Time" guest George Carlin announced that he had a pet name for former first lady Barbara Bush.
"The Silver D - - - - e bag, I call her," Carlin announced as Maher's audience erupted in laughter.

Maher convinced Johnsen to quit her 12 year flight attentant career and in return he promised to marry her. He wanted her to have his children. Maher would also reimburse her for clothing and other expenses necessary for her to accompany him at public occasions as a "power couple." He promised that he would support her for the rest of her life. He also promised to buy her the house in Beverly Hills where Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez once lived or give her money to buy a similar house.

When Maher called our military "cowards", he later said he was misquoted and that he is their biggest supporter. Yeah, right. So, look for Maher to now say he's a "big fan" of the first lady.
Actually, he does us all a big favor when he makes these outrageous statements. Most Americans find his political "humor" offensive, and his hatred for Republicans gets them reelected.
This guy is a complete waste. I've refused to subscribe to HBO and try to boycott anything he's connected to. Including Ann Coulter, who is an idiot for defending this jerk.
Plus, he's a total hypocrite. Just like his pal, Arianna "SUV" Huffington.

I am a lady, too, so let me say:
Bill Maher is a piece of clinton.
Thank you for the lovely pictures. IMO she is the most refined, classically beautiful First Lady, however our Left wing MSM will never give her the credit she deserves.
When the President and Mrs. Bush visited Southwest Florida last fall prior to the election, she looked absolutely immaculate. It was in the 90's and we were all sweating bullets. But she emerged from the helicopter in a suit(!) no less, and looked cool and serene for more than 30 minutes under the blistering midday sun. It was surreal. Words just don't do her justice.
I don't mind comics making fun of my president, but Maher and Carlin are not funny. Their jokes suck. They are full of anger and bitterness. It's not entertaining. And when a conservative tries to counter Maher's view point, he shuts him down by making another bad joke of his opinion. I'm glad I don't pay for HBO!
I'd call Maher a scum bag but I don't want to offend the scum of this earth.
