The phony peaceniks who protested in Washington
Saturday's demonstration in Washington, in favor of immediate withdrawal of coalition forces from Iraq, was the product of an opportunistic alliance between two other very disparate "coalitions." Here is how the New York Times (after a front-page and an inside headline, one of them reading "Speaking Up Against War" and one of them reading "Antiwar Rallies Staged in Washington and Other Cities") described the two constituenciess of the event:
The protests were largely sponsored by two groups, the Answer Coalition, which embodies a wide range of progressive political objectives, and United for Peace and Justice, which has a more narrow, antiwar focus.
The name of the reporter on this story was Michael Janofsky. I suppose that it is possible that he has never before come across "International ANSWER," the group run by the "Worker's World" party and fronted by Ramsey Clark, which openly supports Kim Jong-il, Fidel Castro, Slobodan Milosevic, and the "resistance" in Afghanistan and Iraq, with Clark himself finding extra time to volunteer as attorney for the génocidaires in Rwanda. Quite a "wide range of progressive political objectives" indeed, if that's the sort of thing you like. However, a dip into any database could have furnished Janofsky with well-researched and well-written articles by David Corn and Marc Cooperto mention only two radical left journalistswho have exposed "International ANSWER" as a front for (depending on the day of the week) fascism, Stalinism, and jihadism.

If the Arabs attacked Israel, these anti-war anti-Semites would suddenly be Pro-War!!
No WONDER our intelligence comunity couldn't get correct info since people like "ex-snook" can't see that Hitchens creamed Galloway....pathetic.....Galloway is pathetic!
I've seen his nonsense on many occasions.
Yes Hitchens is becoming another Horowitz! At the time of Horowitz's "conversion", Hitchens was excoriating him. I wonder how they get along nowdays...
I just read Horowitz's autobiography "Radical Son". What a great read - both from a storytelling point of view and even more from an insider view of the left's thinking and tactics. After reading it, you will instantly recognize what the left is up to day in and day out, and why they will never give up.
I strongly recommend it to all freepers, if you want to know the inner workings of the enemy within.
As a conservative it is embarrassing that Hitchens is the journalist who is making the strongest points of calling a spade a spade. I have had my belly full of compassionate conservatism, how about a conservative taking a page from Hitchens book and giving us some passionate conservatism. Hitchens believes what he is saying and is prepared to defend himself. These anal retentive pretty boy television age so-called journalists make me puke. The only conservative journalist that I know of with balls is Ann Coulter.
me too .. he tosses a grenade then scoots
Galloway is only one of our traitors whose necks should meet the rope from a lampost in Times Square
"We should be worried about the amount of people who showed up on such short notice..."
Hitchens does know all about anti-Americanism; he practiced it for most of his career, with no regrets or apologies. Just recently, he told a reporter he was on the side of the Commies during the Vietnam War, and he'd hold the same position today.

They're going fast!
Not just that, but every opponent of liberalism (in the most general and inclusive sense of the term). They are totalitarian Utopians, and such creatures are always set against the free and liberal society. (This is because it is inevitably a vexing refutation of their complex systems of "social justice".) Even if America somehow disappeared completely from the scene, these creeps would continue to support, promote and applaud both totalitarian states and anti-democratic warmongers, terrorists and insurgents.
Sorry I had some errands to do. Reply to what? Galloway took every layer off Hitchens and exposed all the different positions he has espoused from the Vietnam era. The latest of a Troskyite posing as a conservative was just another. As Amy Goodman asked him, 'does the press like you better now than they used to'. Hitchens had no reply. He wanted to sell his book.

I didn't see Galloway vs Hitchens but I've seen Galloway before and consider him a very effective demagogue. Good speaker. Fast on this feet and blustery. Sorry if I mislabeled you as a hit and run poster
I keep hearing about the peace movement's support for Milosevic ( mainly by Hitchens ) but it was these people who were the architects of the War against the Serbs. Soros was perhaps the biggest enemy of Milosevic and it was after Milosevic cracked down on Soros' media that the left started urging an alliance with the Islamic terrorist elements that Milosevic was fighting against.
Milosevic was the first modern day leader that had to go to war against a Muslim invasion ( well, except for Israel )but somehow he gets lumped in with the people who he went to war against. A little bit of cognitive dissonance there, Mr.Hitchens.
Truly inspired!
Hitchens may yet become another Horowitz, but I think he still has a strong anti-religious animus which turns me off. You've probably seen his remarks on Mother Teresa. That was some time ago, but I don't think he's changed on that issue.
OK. But you might like to know a previous comment I made about this weekend. "It did not look like an anti-war movement. It looked more like a bowel movement." Regards,
