Whatever Hitchens is he is no faker. And Galloway is just a lunatic incapable of skinning anyone alive or dead.

They leave the distinct impression that the destruction of Israel is one of their goals.

You couldn't be more correct: the "antiwar" movement hasn't changed a bit - same old lineup of tired Stalinists/Maoists/Trotskyites and same old anti-American slogans. Even the names are almost the same - during Vietnam the Communist Party types had the "People's Coalition for Peace and Justice (PCPJ)" (John Kerry's old outfit)and the Socialist Worker's Party called itself the National Mobilization for Peace ("New Mobe").

Same old agenda too - "the US is the enemy".

If they had a conscience, they'd be ashamed of themselves!

Sorry, obviously you didn't see what these two could do to each other to become capitalists to sell their books. Whatever Hitchens can be called, faker is the most complimentary.

Chairman Mao sold lots of Little Red Books too. So what? Hitchens is right on the money when it comes to the realization that the greatest enemy of mankind today is the Islamic terror movement. That is really all that matters and he certainly is NOT a "faker" when it comes to that realization.

Why would you use an anti-capitalism argument to attempt to besmirch Hitchens?

it takes a pure bred commie to know all these facts so well and Hitch is one of the founders. Like Horowitz, Hitch can blast the left in a way that leaves little doubt about the motives of the commie left. this is a great read - too bad papers like the Post and Times or TV networks don't have a couple of honest people handing this out before they send a reporter to any anti-war rally.

Christopher Hitchens:

...To be against war and militarism, in the tradition of Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht, is one thing. But to have a record of consistent support for war and militarism, from the Red Army in Eastern Europe to the Serbian ethnic cleansers and the Taliban, is quite another. It is really a disgrace that the liberal press refers to such enemies of liberalism as "antiwar" when in reality they are straight-out pro-war, but on the other side. Was there a single placard saying, "No to Jihad"? Of course not. Or a single placard saying, "Yes to Kurdish self-determination" or "We support Afghan women's struggle"? Don't make me laugh. And this in a week when Afghans went back to the polls, and when Iraqis were preparing to do so, under a hail of fire from those who blow up mosques and U.N. buildings, behead aid workers and journalists, proclaim fatwahs against the wrong kind of Muslim, and utter hysterical diatribes against Jews and Hindus.

...There are only two serious attempts at swamp-draining currently under way. In Afghanistan and Iraq, agonizingly difficult efforts are in train to build roads, repair hospitals, hand out ballot papers, frame constitutions, encourage newspapers and satellite dishes, and generally evolve some healthy water in which civil-society fish may swim. But in each case, from within the swamp and across the borders, the most poisonous snakes and roaches are being recruited and paid to wreck the process and plunge people back into the ooze. How nice to have a "peace" movement that is either openly on the side of the vermin, or neutral as between them and the cleanup crew, and how delightful to have a press that refers to this partisanship, or this neutrality, as "progressive."

Nailed It!
Moral Clarity BUMP !

This ping list is not author-specific for articles I'd like to share. Some for the perfect moral clarity, some for provocative thoughts; or simply interesting articles I'd hate to miss myself. (I don't have to agree with the author all 100% to feel the need to share an article.) I will try not to abuse the ping list and not to annoy you too much, but on some days there is more of the good stuff that is worthy of attention. You can see the list of articles I pinged to lately  on  my page.
You are welcome in or out, just freepmail me (and note which PING list you are talking about). Besides this one, I keep 2 separate PING lists for my favorite authors Victor Davis Hanson and Orson Scott Card.

At best, these people are amazingly stupid. You could even say stuck on stupid. One of the most fundamental rules of war is that the enemy always gets a vote. We can withdraw from anywhere we want, but that only ends the conflict if the other side elects to stop shooting.

Great article, but I think it misses the point. I went down there to check out the protest on Saturday, and there were tons of crazies all over the place. When I asked who organized this march, the usual reply was "dunno" or "united for answers or something". Nobody knew that the coalitions were supporters of Kim Jong-Il and company. Stupid? Ill-informed? Absolutely. But when I asked each person why *he* was there, they invariably said "to support Cindy's cause" or "to bring attention to the unnecessary deaths of our soldiers". Or possibly to find a weed hookup. ;) Anyway, say what you will about the organizations, but the people who actually showed up were there on their own steam, and they had semi-coherent things to say. We should be worried about the amount of people who showed up on such short notice - especially now that their figurehead has been arrested. This will only enrage the unwashed commie masses.

Still, this article coming from the left will really burn the opposition

I doubt it. Most of the lefties who got disgusted with the hypocrisy of the anti-war movement have already left. All that's left are the moonbats.

Galloway and the mostly commie audience may have shouted over him, they defeated no one but themselves.

Tired old recyled commie rhetoric.

Still, this article coming from the left will really burn the opposition.

That this article appears on Washington/Newsweek-owned Slate is small comfort since Mr. Hitchens' words are too big and his sentence construction too complex for most War-is-Bad lefties to comprehend. If he'd included a simple, child-friendly diagram with pictures, Slate would not have run it.
