The media have pushed the idea that the demonstration this weekend at the White House was an "anti-war" gathering. What they didn't say was who was behind it.
No doubt, many fine, sincere people demonstrated this weekend against the U.S. liberation of Iraq. Being Americans, they're certainly entitled to do so.
Maybe they even endorsed the view of those who organized the demonstrations. On Thursday, the organizers ran a two-page ad. On one, they called the Bush administration liars. On the other, they ran the names of all those who have died in Iraq.
But we'd be surprised if those well-meaning folks understood whose banner they were marching under, because the media aren't reporting it. For the record, the lead organizer is ANSWER, which the media routinely refer to as an "antiwar group."
It is nothing of the sort.
In fact, ANSWER is a front group for the Stalinist Workers World Party. And any group that qualifies for that epithet in front of its name deserves special scrutiny, since Josef Stalin was responsible for the murder of as many as 25 million human beings.
Well, you might ask, does it really matter? It sure does.
Imagine for a moment it was a different group that sponsored the demonstration say, a neo-Nazi group. Think The Washington Post and other media would report that? You bet they would.

The left will lose this battle.
The only reason vietnam was a victory to them was that they could play the DRAFT ANGLE.
There are no conscripts in this war
I agree with you .There is a HUGE segment of this population that wishes to bring this country to ruin.I don't reall get it. Some form of self hatred by a generation of spoiled brats maybe . A mental illness of national proportions. I fear for the future of the USA , I see hard times coming. If Clinto gets in , we're really doomed. These moonbats will be running the show.
The real problem is that we live in a 'sound bite' world these days. The average citizen can't stay on one subject for more than five seconds. Thinking we can keep them on board for a number of years, to see the Middle-East improved is very iffy in my book. I know the media is playing numbers games, but my confidence in my fellow citizens is not rock solid by any means.
I pretty much agree. And sadly, our side has been more than willing to lay the foundation for Hillary with a whole slew of new regulations as if designed for the likes of her. Good luck average Joe.
i'm speechless when I hear what the majority of people believe these days .Insane , illogical rantings. I'd bet %99 of those morons protesting in DC dont have a CLUE as to what really goes on in the world. It drives me crazy . Somedays Ican't handle it at all. Even people who I used to think had a brain are brainwashed . Most of this country STILL gets ALL of it's info from the MSM .We're lost if you ask me.

SAN FRANCISCO--Imagine my surprise when I found out that I am banned from speaking at a peace rally here this Sunday. As editor of Tikkun, the largest-circulation liberal Jewish magazine in the world, I have been an outspoken critic of the proposed war in Iraq. I have also unequivocally condemned Saddam Hussein's brutality and called for the world community to bring him to justice for crimes against humanity. But we at Tikkun do not believe that this war--in which thousands of Iraqi civilians are likely to die--will bring democracy to the Middle East. Instead, it is bound to increase the threat of terrorism to American citizens and provoke more violence. It will also fuel American fantasies of world economic and political domination.
So why was I being blackballed over the peace rally?
My sin was publicly criticizing the way that A.N.S.W.E.R., one of the four groups sponsoring the San Francisco demonstration, has used the antiwar demonstrations to put forward anti-Israel propaganda. An A.N.S.W.E.R. spokesperson, speaking on the Brian Lehrer show on WNYC, said that they didn't want a "pro-Israel" speaker at their rally.
The other groups have said that while they disagree with A.N.S.W.E.R., they will honor an agreement giving each group an effective veto on speakers. Yet it is inconceivable that these antiwar coalitions would let A.N.S.W.E.R. ban a speaker if he accused that group of racism, sexism or homophobia. Why should anti-Semitism be treated differently, as the acceptable -ism?

"what ANSWER is really about"
Remind them of the Starbucks and other stores in downtown Seattle which got trashed .. THAT WAS ANSWER!
WE are not "occupying" Iraq .. do people know that? .. we are actually UNDER CONTRACT TO IRAQ to defend their nation from attack, and to TRAIN THE IRAQIS - police and soldiers.
Rabbi Lerner and Tikkun are moronic leftists - natural allies of ANSWER, but for ANSWER's virulent anti-Semitism.
Rabbi Lerner -- You chose your friends and sides poorly, now reap the wind.
That doesn't surprise me, but how a Jew could align themselves with the left in the United States is beyond my comprehension. The left in the U.S. is VERY sympathetic towards people who wish to exterminate every Jew on the face of planet earth. Does this guy, and folks like him think they'll be the exceptions?
Please, people this is not the 60's. This is a war against terrorism.
bttt
I'm certain that if they could have had a helicopter showing a vast throng, they surely would have done so.
If they could have had a panorama of a large crowd taken from some building, they would have.
I'm guessing this was a very small turn out, maybe only in the hundreds, and the media...ever willing to create news instead of cover it....would intentionally not report the failure of this event.
On C-Span a little while ago, the last dregs of the Cindy Peace March...several commie types (up with the poor, black, Hispanic), haranguing a crowd of five or six, including one your man with a sign that read 'Republican chics hate me'.
Kalamazoo, eh? Did you make a side trip over to Hamtramck and worship at a mosque, Cindy? I hear the city mayor is allowing them to use a P.A. system to broadcast the "Call" to "Prayer" several times daily. After all, that's the same thing as those pesky church bells, no?
Oh, BTW, Mz. al-She'ehan, did you bring your burkha? That is, if they even let women "pray." Maybe they'd let you "pray" just before a -- well, let's just say just before one of their religious rituals involving a machete.
Hmm, that was one weedy looking 'young man' with a sign that read 'Republican chicks hate me'.
Ugh. The picture of Cindy and Jesse is nauseating. Her summer in the spotlight is over.
Buh-Bye!
