I'll start off by stating that I've always been a huge Hannity supporter. His program election afternoon/eve was one of the most inspiring, one of the most effective broadcasts ever, IMHO, possibly helping Bush win Ohio by a relatively small margin. This was possibly his best program ever.
This past week was one of his worst ever. I don't mean to downplay the damage caused by Rita, but it was far less destructive than had been predicted. My beef with Hannity was that he tried to sensationalize every aspect of the possible disaster, both on his radio and TV shows. He was always looking at a worst case scenario, often trying to get his guests to reluctantly predict worst case possibilities. He went so far as to try and press someone to PREDICT whether gas would go to $5 or $6 a gallon following this storm.
He was no worse than a Geraldo, or the screaming left in this regard. To make matters worse, he blindly trusted Joe Bastardi, listening to this guy foolishly predict that Galveston would be devestated, that 150-175 mph winds would hit, that Houston would also be devestated, and that it would remain a cat 5... and stay off the coast for 4 days while wreacking havoc. He was making these predictions for days ahead of event. Even when it was downgraded to a cat, he still predicted it would be 150 mph winds. Of course, he offered no apology for getting it so wrong. I can't wait to see how he explains it away on Monday.
Sean should stick to politics, and forget the "fear-mongering". I was EXTREMELY disappointed in the program this week. Just like the weeks after his book releases, this week's program was almost unlistenable.
Go have dinner at Ruths Chris, you'll feel better. :)
Great One, I may be the only one who feels this way, but nevertheless, you're close to him. Please ask him to stick to politics, and not sensationalism. He looked like a buffoon all week. You and Rush were far more level-headed, on all fronts.
Shades of Aruba coverage, OVERDONE. IMHO.
Your blood pressure will suffer less once you come to the realization that TV personalities' first allegiance is to increasing viewership.
Way to go...just when Hannity gets to a point where he tolerates Freepers, you gotta go and p*ss him off again... (/sarcasm) :)
I have not watched Hannity and Colmes regularly since they played up the Schiavo controversy and quit watching completely when they were only reporting the Aruba case this summer.
That is why there is an on/off knob on radios.
I doubt Bastardi-weenie will fool Hannity again. The is nothing knew for JB...but after the damage of Katrina and for once JB's predicts came true. Hannity got caught up in the show boating of bastardi-weenie.
Sean spent the WHOLE first hour talking about nothing but this storm.
Read one of his books....
Joe Bastardi is terrible. I watched Steve Sonofabitchi on The Weather Channel.
All of the FNC on air people were into hype mode. Disgraceful.
But it's his solemn pledge to bring you the most comprehensive blah, blah, . . . three hours a day. That's all he asks.
Three hours a day is all I ask.
All it took was a look at the Tidal Charts, the water temperature and several other factors and anyone with a mediocre experience in weather would have been able to forecast the upturn and fast decline in stregth.
Joe shoulda stuck to pro rasslin'.
I expected more from Hannity, at least on the radio. BOR, Greta, Geraldo, and Shepard are all grandstanders, but I didn't think Sean would succumb. I'm so disappointed, and hope it's an isolated incident.
You didn't really listen very well to Joe Bastardi. He hedged his predictions over and over, just as any pro weather person does. There is a Magic Word in the English language. Listen for it. The word is "IF".
You're right. Limbaugh nailed this one on the head Friday and called it the way it actually happened.
