Hurricane Rita Live Thread, Part VI
NHC - NOAA ^ | 23 September 2005 | NHC - NOAA

Posted on 09/23/2005 9:39:06 AM PDT by NautiNurse

Dangerous Hurricane Rita is expected to make landfall in the northeast Gulf of Mexico within 24 hours. Tornados have spawned in Louisiana. Water is filling the Ninth Ward of New Orleans again. A bus carrying elderly evacuees was gutted by fire this morning outside Dallas, with multiple fatalities. Television crews have positioned their hurricane reporters throughout the region to attain maximum drama effects. Whoooooa.

**whisper** (NautiNurse...how does one clean one's cache?)

If running Internet Explorer, poke tools, internet options, and under the general tab, delete files under temporary internet files.

In Firefox, poke tools, options, privacy, and clear the cache.

For general cleanup, ccleaner and beclean ( google them ) are very useful, but check carefully through all their options before running, so you don't delete something you may need.

Bayou Manchac flooded during Allison. Perkins road was impassable from "The Toy" house to Santa Maria subdivision..... Alligator Bayou was flooded as well during that storm.

Well, I do have a small boat.

I can lose track of time studying maps on that site.

Me, too.

Do you have Google Earth?

Hey there, Kountz! Hope you can avoid any falling trees. I think I'm already getting a few hurricane-force gusts. Just went outside. Already a few shingles flying around, but don't know whose house they came from. I'll be okay down here. I'm certainly not going to bother any rescuers. I made the decision to ride this out, and I'm certainly not going to impose on others. (although, if they happen to run across me, pinned down by a tree, I won't argue with them).

Still amazed I haven't lost power. Oops, there's another dip. Take care in Kountz!

That is a very nice part of town, many miles away from the water and the flooding. Seriesly.

Thanks. A closer look at Mapquest says they are nearer to Breen Dr. and Fairbanks North Houston Rd. Knowing my uncle, I'm sure it's a swank part of town, and therefore most likely not flood prone.

I like that Texas site because it links to local tourism stuff very quick. I am a huge "do it in Texas" guy and love to find good Texas info.
