They don't like it much, though..........hehe......
BTW, my brother (who lives in Fridley) had a neighbor's large tree fall on top of the fence he (my bro.) had just finished building, taking out power lines in the process. They were without power for awhile, along with 100,000 other folks in the area.
Thanks, that's the Sacramento one. I'm in San Diego. I wonder if Oliver North will be here as well?
Hey, do we get Ollie North with Hannity like Sacramento does? I'm gonna go look at the site now to see.
The news just said that it will still be a hurricane as it rips through here and will only be just starting to downgrade to a tropical storm around where we are if it goes as expected.
I sure wish PHil would get a clue. I am scared and know that we need to be doing stuff like tape the windows and try to get water.
Did you see a little bit ago the rocket that was launched
up north at Vandenberg. It left an interesting trail
in the sky. A thread up has people over in AZ wondering what it was.
I don't know if this will help but it might. My son was about 50 miles from the coast where Katrina hit the hardest. There was wind damage [trees and power lines down, cell towers down] and electricity gone for 10 days to 2 weeks for the city he was in. I also believe he didn't have water for awhile.
If your roof is in good shape and no trees too close to the building, you might just need to get plenty of water available. Fill up the bathtub for other things besides drinking, washing your hands and such. You also need water to drink, but that should be separate. You would benefit from a generator as well. I think you would be all right, but perhaps uncomfortable. Remember, no electricity, no air conditioning.
Okay, I just went to kfmb and we do not get North. I may get my daughter and her boyfriend to go too.
LOL! I love that cat! He is king!
And he believes it too. :-)
Kate, where are you at?
Thank you for the measures to take. I am in a 30-year-old apartment, so I am not sure how good the roof is. They DID put a new one on fairly recently, so mabe it's ok. I dont know if they had a hurricane in mind when they put it on, though. there are only a few trees, not very many. I am going to fill up the tub and one of the sinks before I leave for work. And we have piles of drinking water also, so hopefully it will be enough. Have no generator unfortunately.
I may get my daughter and her boyfriend to go too.
That will be great!
Sounds like fun :-)
It was a massive storm, and the straight line winds were devastating.
Hoo boy..........GOTTA SAY THIS NOW.
THE INDIANS JUST WON AGAIN AND ARE A GAME AND A HALF OVER THE RED SOX FOR THE WILDCARD IN THE PLAYOFFS!!
WOOHOO!!!
Believe it or not my son who just moved to LA called me and mentioned this and asked me if I thought it was a comet, he is smart but not familiar with areas in CA. I told him I thought it was a missle of some sort from Vandenberg and that comets were announced well in advance. On a side note, I also told him that with all those wacko's in CA it probably was a space ship ready to beam them up.
Before the storm hits, you can put tap water into every container that you can so you will have some water.
Good luck. I am sure you will not have utilities for awhile.
He's SUCH a little kid! :)
Our roof was ripped off during hurricane Georges in 1998, a category 2. The real damage didn't show up until after the hurricane was over. During the storm the winds are horizontal [sideways] hitting the walls. After the worst of the storm is passed it hits the roof, and if the roof is damaged the water comes in. You can save some things from damage like this by putting plastic over it [plastic drop cloth]. We saved our computer and half of our books this way.
Even if your roof isn't completely sound, you could still be in decent shape. You don't have to lose everything.
Good luck, prayers for you this weekend.
Good for the Indians, not a Bo Sox fan.
My AL team since the 1950s are the Yankees.
My Padres are still in first place in the NL West.
Oh, to be that young again!!!
