> >Hello - just got back from 5 days of helping out in Baton Rouge and >New Orleans. What a wonderful group of people I met! Donna was so >exhausted but she's a sweet lady who cares greatly for the birds and >has generously given up her house to this effort - even though I get >the sense that she could scarcely afford to. I think Donna is really >set for cages, toys, food, etc. I clearly see that with 6 loads of >laundry and many, many showers a day, Donna's water bill and electric >bills are going to go sky high. I'm sure that donations to 911 >Parrot Alert would be really appreciated. > >There were some happy reunions while I was there and hope they >continue. Every bird will go home with a new cage and toys and lots >of healthy food. The birds are getting excellent vet care and twice >daily cage cleanings, feedings and treats. > >I have put together a site to chronicle my experiences there. You'll >be able to see the way the cages are set up and some of the many, >many donations. > >The site can be found at http://home.comcast.net/~janellez/index.htm > >I was so glad to have this experience and very sad to leave! > >Janelle >Seattle, WA
some of these photos will break your heart
Ping.
Kudos to those workers. I contributed to bestfriends.org and felt so much the better for it.
And much thx to you also for helping. God bless you!
We don't often think about the birds, but domesticated ones like parrots and parakeets rely on us to feed and take care of them.
Plus, the parrots will outlive us.
Thanks again, and thanks for the pictures. They're some of the best I've seen.
Thank you for posting these. I am always amazed how there is so much heart in our fallen world.
You are a very special person, God Bless you.

Your website is wonderful. Thank you for what you have done. Now, if could stop blinking back the tears....
Cool post, a great window into what's happening down there.
Wonderful story and pics...thank you so much.

Oops - I forgot to mention. I am JubJub, and after all a rather infamous bird. I sure hope you are around when I need a rescue! :)
God bless you.
Then I can't look but...I will say a prayer for this person that she gets a special place in heaven for all her good work. The images if they are bad will break my heart and stay with me. Since the animals are all cared for I would prefer to imagine them clean, happy and healthy and safe in homes being loved by everyone in the family.
I looked, because I was interested in seeing some of the images, and pixs of my friends, BUT, the heart breaking ones, Im like you, my stomach is killing me now and I keep having to stop myself from crying.......
its the most pathetic thing to see a little critter, scared, hungry and alone :(

Thanks so much.....some unbelievable pictures
Our local Humane Foundation went down to Mississippi with three donated horse trailers full of vet supplices, crates and food.
They were gone about 2 weeks and came back with 32 cats and dogs.
We are having an open house this weekend.
I am trying to get them to write up a story, which I will post, if I ever get it.
Thanks for your post.
A true labor of love to have rescued these animals. I cannot believe that some of their owners had so little regard for them that they left them behind but took their furniture.
