Atta files destroyed by Pentagon
The Washington Times ^ | 9-22-25 | Bill Gertz

Pentagon lawyers during the Clinton administration ordered the destruction of intelligence reports that identified September 11 leader Mohamed Atta months before the attacks on the Pentagon and World Trade Center, according to congressional testimony yesterday. A lawyer for two Pentagon whistleblowers also told the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday that the Defense Intelligence Agency last year destroyed files on the Army's computer data-mining program known as Able Danger to avoid disclosing the information.

Probably because they thought they were destroying incriminating evidence linking Atta to OTHER attacks, such as, perhaps, the Cole.

Because it implicated Clinton and his ties to the Chinese.

If you heard the discussion yesterday, you found out the governments DOD requirements to keep documents on US citizens for only 90-days to find out if they are revelant. After 90-days they are suppose to be destroyed.

Atta and the other three 9/11 terrorists who showed up on the Able Danger chart were NOT U.S. citizens. So information about them need not have, and should not have, been destroyed.

I don't know the immigration status of the other fifty-odd persons who were fingered by Able Danger, but that is yet another mystery we need to clear up.

"Probably because they thought they were destroying incriminating evidence linking Atta to OTHER attacks, such as, perhaps, the Cole."

I didn't think about that - thank you.

What about the Bush administration supposedly continuing this - do you see any sense in that charge?

"Pentagon lawyers during the Clinton administration ordered the destruction of intelligence reports that identified September 11 leader Mohamed Atta months before the attacks on the Pentagon and World Trade Center,"

What part of that didn't you understand?

...Able Danger was shut down after a "profile" of Chinese weapons proliferation...the names of Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice... were mentioned in the data and created "a wave of controversy," he said.

What is this? What did Condi have to do with Chinese weapon proliferation? I have been confused as to why this coverup has continued in the Bush Administration. Atta...Chinese weapons... Condi... Can anyone explain what is unraveling here?

Ummm, why do I get the feeling that noone thinks twice about blaming Bush for hurricanes, but wouldn't dream of even insinuating anything but lush adoration for anything Clinton.

Bear repeating, writ large.

The sad fact is that the Bush administration CORRECTS the errors of the Clintons but does not expose them or indict anyone. This is Bush's "forgiving" character, and it isn't going to change, so get used to it. Those who wanted a Pat Buchanan who would say to Clinton, "You have the right to remain silent" aren't going to get that satisfaction.

Yes, and I remember a sneering article from the Washington Post, a liberal attack on Able Danger claiming that they had no "proof". Of course, it was ordered destroyed by Klinton lawyers.

I heard that not only were the files deleted but, on another thread here some time ago, I read that acid was poured on the hard drives. Some one was serious about info not getting out. Though I have no direct info, this whole thing has clintonista written all over it. It's their MO.

I'm tired of 'National Security' being an excuse. 'National Security' failed on 9/11, thats why we need to get to the bottom of this mess.

I think we need to find out why the Able Danger information was destroyed in 2000.

we also need to find out why it was destroyed by the Pentagon in 2004, well after serious investigations had begun. In my opinion, this is very similar to Arthur Andersen destroying documents that might be needed for a pending investigation, but much, much worse because it involves critical questions of national security.
