Extremely dangerous Category 5 Hurricane Rita continues to threaten the Greater Houston Metropolitan area. The forecast track has shifted slightly to the northeast, increasing the risk to Southwest Louisiana, and a significant portion of the oil and gas operations in the Gulf of Mexico. Texas Governor Perry is urging all coastal residents between Beaumont and Corpus Christi to evacuate as soon as possible.

CONU is somewhat similar to GUNA, and shows up on the Colo maps.

I calculate my own GUNA average using Stormtrakker software.

There is a hotel on a pier over the water in Galveston. That may be what you are seeing.

It's the Flagship Hotel, been there for years. Alicia did damage it,but it was rebuilt. Why I don't know;).

Only if one was almost legally blind.

If one has a quality map with the NHC track, current position, and all the model tracks, it doesn't strike one the storm is heading towards NOLA at all.
