Good afternoon, darkwing retired. Are you rested up now? How's the laptop adventure? Thanks for your service to America.
And just in case you need more coffee and a snack...

Afternoon Jinxie. I saw the picture of you back yard! You held out on us all this time. We could have had a Canteen pool party in your backyard.
The Realtors came by last night. We covered a lot of ground. This is a husband and wife team. I guess she'll be the one to help us sell, and he'll be the one to help us hunt?????
Anyway, they say we're in fairly good shape.
Most of it IMO is just cleaning. Especially, the yard, you know? Got to figure out how to make shriveled and dying plants and grass pass muster! At least your backyard looked tidy. We have a LOT of leaves on the ground.
p.s. good luck on your offer!

That is SO AWESOME!! I'm a passenger -- a good passenger at that -- but some day after the kids are a little older I might hafta try my hand and riding for myself. I already ride dirt bikes, but I've never done any street riding for myself.
What kind of bike do you have?

I have a blue and silver 2004 Susuki Intruder Volusia...it's been mistaken for a Harley a few times. I'm always quick to tell them it's not. I don't want anyone thinking I'm trying to be an imposter! It's been a good first bike, but I can already see a few things that will need to change for it to become a long term bike. Something other than a stock seat for starters!!
It's been kind of tough for me to ride right now. I got my permit and the bike when Tank (dh) came home from his first tour in Iraq. Then after being home for 3 months we decided that he was going to go back over. So I've pretty much been learning on my own, and all of the weekend trips we had been talking about have been postponed. We were looking forward to a trip through the White Mountains this fall, so it's kind of bittersweet that I'm riding without him. At least now I'll be a little more confident of a rider when he gets home.

They didn't get on the road as early as anticipated. Last thing before unplugging computer was FReepmail that was Dad is staying in Dallas and will be home to Houston on Monday morning. They are going past Baton Rouge to Ash's best friend's house.
Prayers sent with them. Their first experience with a hurricane, let alone evacuation, and Dad isn't there. Hoping they don't get too tangled up with the LA evacuees.

She's a total whacko.I suspect you can handle the dog better than her.
What is the forecast for Katy, please? cbkaty is having to stay put and maybe deliver his daughter's baby.

I wish I could remember what kind of bike hubby said he'd get me for a starter. I know is WASN'T a HArley because they are so heavy and they don't turn as eaily as some others. We have a Candy apple red 2005 Yamaha R1 that hubby rides alone, and then for our 2-up bike we have a 2004 Yamaha FJR...it's gorgeous bright deep blue!! I love riding. I hope you wear good gear...? (Please!)
Hey Blackie!! We got us another biker in the Canteen and it's a LADY!!!! WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Good afternoon Troops, Veterans, family members, Canteen, and Lurkers:
I just got off the phone with Bethy. She's doing okay. Please pray for her. It took her 2 hours to get to I-10. She's by herself because there are issues with the family. She's on her way to Baton Rouge by herself and she's extremely stressed. She's got a full tank of gas, money, and water.
She has been instructed to call me as soon as she get to her grandmother's house. I don't care what time, but she is to call my house collect.
*HUGS* to all.
I will keep you posted.

Katy is North and West of me. Cbkaty is roughly 15 - 20, ( Or maybe more.....just a rough estimate, ) miles in a straight line from this house. He should be relatively safe if the storm continues to track more to the East.

"....and maybe she'll be a week or two late...."I'm hoping the same, and also that Rita's change of course will ease the distress. Gotta find a map.
