Breaking: Jet Blue emergency landing, Long Beach, CA (UPDATE: Plane Landed Safely)
KABC Channel 7, live broadcast
Posted on 09/21/2005 4:21:43 PM PDT by kingu
A Jet Blue aircraft just did a low altitude flyby of Long Beach airport after reporting some concern with their forward gear. The television helicopter caught an image of it - the gear is turned sideways and tilted.
Aircraft is heading out towards the ocean to drop fuel, will turn around, and attempt a 'soft field' landing, keeping the nose up as long as possible.

I've flown Jet Blue between Long Beach (LGB) and Dulles (IAD) three times. They not only air MSNBC but FOX News and CNN as well. I'm guessing the pilots have shut it off.

Well, I live a few minutes from LB Airport, my husband is in the aerospace industry, and I assure you a lot of people locally are glued to their TV sets. Perhaps it's not national news, but it's huge local news.

"You miss that dolt Paul Moyer?? Unnngh."So far I've only heard Conan Nolan and Bob Hager who has a great deal of knowledge about planes. Moyer must beoff tonight. My favorite has always been Rob Bernson, IIRC he's the chopper pilot for Fox.

Glad that you got a laugh from my remarks. That's something positive to come out of our discourse. ;-)

This gives the MSM the chance to not show the great job Texas is doing with the evacuation versus Louisiana. There's a conspiracist for ya.
It's a live airplane emergency landing. This will always be breaking news.

Landing will be on runway 25F, which runs parallel to El Segundo from what KABC reported.

MSNBC commentator says such a twisted landing gear is VERY unusual. He has never heard/seen anything like this.

God help them, and God help the pilot.
It's probably a twenty-cent grease fitting or an eight-cent washer left out at last servicing...
