Not sure about that, but they charge up over the water. Right now the gulf of Mexico is very warm and the hurricane feeds on that warmth. That's why Katrina became such a nightmare once she got into the Gulf. Rita's doing the same thing.

Nice here in Michigan today. 85 and sunny with a nice breeze.72 and clear in Southern Cal.
With weather like this, it's sometimes hard to believe all this is going on. Makes me feel very fortunate.
Maybe those in the Gulf will be spared this time, and it'll hit Mexico.

Amen. Fellow Coloradan. We get the occasional blizzard/snowstorm that may prevent us from getting to work a few days, but thats about it.

The Gulf is the warmest that I can remember. Lived here for 24 years.........The Bays are even warmer!..........They say Mars itself is getting warmer and CO2 is boiling out of rocks, so this is definitely increased solar output of some nature or another. Don't we monitor solar output for fluctuations?

. . . and Spinal Tap found a level 11 on the volume meter . . .
Nigel Tufnel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and...
Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten?
Nigel Tufnel: Exactly.
Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?
Marty DiBergi: I don't know.
Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.
Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder.
Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?
Nigel Tufnel: [long pause] These go to eleven.
Bonus quote
Marty DiBergi: Oh, there actually is, uh... there was a Saint Hubbins?
David St. Hubbins: That's right, yes.
Marty DiBergi: What was he the saint of?
David St. Hubbins: He was the patron saint of quality footwear.

I love this map, let's direct metro urban area of millions and millions to 4 small rural towns! Forget DFW, San Antonio, and Austin. Oh well, at least Brenham has Blue Bell.

You guys got snow and blizzards and avalanches and liberals all over the place........
Snow and blizzards = You get to stay home for a day or so from work w/ pay.
Avalanches = Only in the Mtns, I don't live in the Mtns. Never seen one.
Liberals = Most stay in Boulder, I don't go to Boulder.
Colorado = Paradise right now! ;
You guys on the coast stay safe and the rest of us will hope for the best for you.
