Even though it probably still feels like summer, fall is upon us - for tomorrow is the first day of Autumn. September 22nd marks the 2005 autumnal equinox, when night and day are of equal length.

Ready or not, the sun will be setting earlier and the days will become shorter. Sadly for some of us and happily for others, it's time to say goodbye to summer. Crisp mornings, autumn leaves, and frosty pumpkins are right around the corner.

For man, autumn is a time of harvest, of gathering together.
For nature, it is a time of sowing, of scattering abroad.

Am just glad that you have WindowsXP now, wouldn't you like to have all that time that it took to open those pictures back?

I try not to look back! LOL

It's nice to have a back up printer. We still need to get a scanner, M brought one home from the Goodwill store (paid 5 bucks) and it didn't work naturally.

I like this little printer that came with it and had it hooked up, and my laser one - the other color printer I decided not to install on this pc and just keep it hooked up to the old one.

You paid $5 for a scanner? No wonder it doesn't work. But on the other hand, if it had, what a deal you would have gotten! :)

My scanner won't work with this pc. :( Hate that, it is such a good one with really good quality scanning and printing. Have to leave it connected to old pc.

Beautiful introduction to the Fall season, MB.

Autumn was ushered in yesterday afternoon up here with a BANG. Rain, thunder and lightning - very unusual for this area. Blue skies again today, though.

A lady was struck by lightning about a mile away from our house. Neighbors saw it happen, rushed to her aid and began CPR. Paramedics arrived within three minutes and rushed her to the hospital. Latest report I've heard, she's in critical condition.

On a lighter side, we went outside to watch the spectacular light show that God provided. Logan heard the conversation that thunder always follows those lightning bolts, so, one of his comments...

"There's a flashing bolt... does it talk?"

Also, while we were outside, after one of the extremely loud thunder BANGS, our neighbor's dog jumped the fence and came running up to me with her tail between her legs, crouching and shaking like a leaf. Poor thing was so frightened. Her family was gone, so we brought her into the backyard. She went into the garden shed to hide.

Police and firefighters were swamped. Lightning strikes caused a lot of signal lights to automatically switch to flashing red signals. Major traffic jams during rush hour.

Hi, Dave. Electrical storms are always so scary, and to hear that a lady was struck by lightning not too far from where you live is even scarier. No wonder that poor little dog was frightened, sure he felt safer in the yard nearer to all of you.

Oh, Ms Billie, I do pray that you are not in Rita's path. We have children in Houston. We assume they have sense enough to head north.

All the generaters, other equipment & men were sent to LA and our local officials are having trouble finding emergency equipment.

Hope Rita loses some of her anger before reaching y'all. It would be great if she were to make a left turn, but you know how all this is Bush's fault, so the only turn she'll make is Right. :))

As an aside, our neighbor works for SBC. Last week they asked for volunteers to go to the devastated areas of the Gulf to help get telephone system back up to operation levels. His normal job here is a service tech installing and trouble-shooting phone service to homes and businesses. He leaves on Friday and will be based somewhere in Texas and then dispatched to the troubled areas. Thirteen days on - 1 off will be his schedule. He'll be working "construction" = setting new poles, running new lines, etc. His truck has already been shipped down there, and he'll be there until mid-December.

Almost like a military deployment.

Boy howdy, sounds like you got quite a storm up there! It looked like it was going to storm here, but all we got were lots of dark clouds and wind. No rain in our neighborhood, but I guess it did rain around us. Rain is NOT good this time of year. I hope the raisins stayed dry.

Most dogs are very stressed during thunderstorms. I spent several with a hundred and 20 pound Lab shaking uncontrollably in my lap. My little Chihuahua didn't pay any attention to thunder. Although, she could sense earthquakes before they hit, but that's a whole 'nuther story.

Autumn .. I'm glad when each season comes around, but especially so for the Fall ... something about the afternoon light, I guess ... and Nature's march to sleep.

I think I called the gradient bg a steel blue gradient.

Yes, steel blue does describle the gradient background. The text near the bottom of your table is what I would describe as periwinkle...it is a bit different than the blue in in the gradient background. Guess I am splitting hairs here, but it comes from spending so many years in a profession where color balance is everything. That's why I just knew that I was not going to be able to adapt to the LCD flat screen monitor. I was sure wrong about that.

BTW, you are going to LOVE XP, I am sure of it. No more blue screen of death, ever! Yippee!!!
