I think they're really concerned about security; they want to keep sensitive technology secret.
I really don't think they trying to cover up embarrassing information.
No surprise here. The Bush administration doesn't want to say or do anything that would embarass Bill Clinton and company. How despicable.

However, why didn't Rumsfeld talk with Weldon beforehand and work this out instead of waiting until the day before the hearing - that part I don't understand.
I agree. This story has had me rattled from the beginning. If security is the concern with this, then Rep. Weldon would not have spoken publicly about this would he? If he did know and he spoke publicly anyway, isn't that unAmerican? So much of this is hard to fathom.
But I keep going back to the fact that the identity of the hijackers were known so soon after the 9-11 attacks.
Well .. it's going to look like the Bush admin is hanging Weldon out to dry .. and I don't think they're doing that.
And .. it's also going to look like Bush is protecting Clinton(s) because of their supposed new buddy status - and I don't believe that either.
Rush Limbaugh reported on his radio show a few weeks ago that he'd interviewed Weldon for his newsletter. Rush said that he'd never had an interview like it. That Weldon was absolutely furious over the entire Able Danger affair.
Well .. the hijackers didn't hide their identity on 9/11 - which made them easy to trace since we already had been watching these guys .. but evidently we weren't watching them close enough.
And .. with Gorelick calling Weldon's office and saying, "I didn't do anything wrong", when Weldon had not accused her of doing anything wrong .. well .. that has me rattled.
It's supposed to be in October's Letter. This month's interview was Rudy.
A new set of hearings, hell, maybe even a "911 Commission Two" with more cicuitious B.S than the Warren Commission...all to lead exactly NOWHERE... aided by the compliant lackeys in the media...
This is a scandal far worse than perjury regarding sexual escapades with White House interns or a third rate political burglary etc. etc. etc....
Nothing to see people... now move on...

Of all the stories touted about by the fringe tin-foilers, this Able Danger story has me concerned.

It's a Bush/Rovian bluff! Make the media go all in- "What are they hiding?" Then they slowly let the info slip and the MSM hangs Clinton & Clinton. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Just a thought: COuld ABle Danger have been destroyed because it was replaced by a newer, better, system and the DOD doesn't want anyone to know what they have now?

At any rate, it's early days on this. If it really DOES look like the good-ol'-spooks club is hiding something, THEN let's raise some sand.
Must be something about National Security and putting people as well as information gathering at risk.
