Count me out as a tinfoiler.
I think they're really concerned about security; they want to keep sensitive technology secret.
I really don't think they trying to cover up embarrassing information.
Hmmmm?? That's my thoughts too .. about national security.
However, why didn't Rumsfeld talk with Weldon beforehand and work this out instead of waiting until the day before the hearing - that part I don't understand.
I agree with you. They are not trying to protect anyone but the guys whose lives are in danger RIGHT NOW.
They are taking the heat to protect their guys. They will let history decide.
Tinfoil is right. I think the dude is bogus and was hunting media attention on the backs of those who actually worked with able danger.
The Sec. of Defense can't stop someone from testifying before an oversight committee. It would lead to serious actions against Rummy.
Bingo
Exactly my take. Whatever was used to data mine this information, they do not want released in a public hearing. With some of the bozos in the Senate, it would be counter productive to put intelligence people in a public hearing to be asked questions that might reveal technology. I don't feel I have a "need to know" techniques that were used.
I agree, it's about the War on Terror and revealing methods that would help the Terrorists.
