Save the Walter Reed Vigil
Appeal to Our Vets and Active Duty Soldiers Inside Walter Reed
The Walter Reed Vigil is a very discreet, dignified project taking place for two hours each Friday evening between 7 and 9 pm. We want those who have paid a terrific price for their country to be kept close to our hearts and minds. We don't call for you to be honored with parades and flags; others will do that. We are calling on the country to honor its veterans, active duty, reserves, and National Guard, with full benefits, commitment to long-term health care, and an economy that will provide good jobs, hopefully union jobs.
We understand from talking to some of those inside Walter Reed and other soldiers, the importance of the bonds you have with the comrades still in the field. You worry about them; you pray for them. So do we-that is why we want them home again. Whether you agree with that solution for the situation we are in-or not-we hope you can come to trust our sincerity. We try to prove it with the consistency of our little vigil outside the main gate of Walter Reed. You proved your commitment to your brothers and sisters in arms and to your country. We stand by the main gate each Friday evening for just those two hours as a commitment to you, that we will not forget you, and we don't want the rest of the country forgetting you either.
NOW TODAY, there are some who are so unsure of their own position that they feel they cannot tolerate even our small, short, weekly vigil. These people wave the American flag but they have lost the essence of what it means. They say God Bless The Troops but they don't understand what it is that you and your comrades fought for, are fighting for. Their goal is to silence us, and what will they do then?
HOW DID it come to this? That a small, humble vigil of ten people or so, should turn into such a storm? What are we saying that gets them so angry? Support Our Troops. Full Benefits for Our Vets. Bring the Troops Home.
PLEASE HELP US. If you believe we have a right to our simple vigil, if you can trust us not to ever do any of our veterans harm, please join us some time between 7 and 9 pm any Friday evening. Show the world that you don't believe in the lies told about us, that you believe in our right to have our vigil for our soldiers. Some of us are mothers of soldiers. Some are veterans. Some of us are simply citizens who want to do a little thing for people who have done so much for them.
Thank you.
I saw these losers at my regular gas station (Exxon Mobile) on Rt 1 right off 95 Exit 161 in Woodbridge this morning. I was in a hurry since I was on my way to work and wanted to fill up before the prices went up again today so I didn't have time to engage in dialogue with them. However, I did make sure that I drove past their camper so they could see my Bush/Cheney tire cover on the back of my Jeep.
bump!
I'll be looking for you this weekend. Hope to see you at Walter Reed too!
Note: If you are in an area of Maryland or Virginia that is far from DC, please let me know immediately and I'll remove you from this list.
This message brought to you by FREEPNORAD. If anyone wants on or off this ping list, say so here or by freepmail.
If Cindy is their "Big Surprise" would now be the time to ask her if her son had been wounded instead of killed would she be protesting (oh, I mean holding a vigil) outside of WRAMC? Don't let me get too close to her, I may have to put her in a head-lock 'til I get an answer! LOL
only a nut would consider her a surprise. yuck.
She's a surprise we could do without!
Afternoon BUMP!
bump
You guys are doing a wonderful job there. Much appreciated.
Fair warning, I refuse to miss the Steelers vs Patriiots game.
BTW, Friday night sounds like a hoot with Sheehan being there.
I sure hope the multitudes of DC police keep all groups well separated. Personally, I think the anti-war numbers will be very anemic this year, but it won't be noticeable, because of the Festival goers.
OTOH, a lot of teachers go to the Book Festival, and many of them are in the anti-Bush war category, so the whole scene will be quite interesting.
A hope to be there bump!
This is not an offhand comment to solicit laughs or response, just a fact.
I have served and bled for this nation, and would die for it tomorrow if called, but what has become sop for the basturds on the left has left me with a seething rage that would be hard to control if I came in contact with those who desecrate the flag, hurl insults at the troops, etc.
If push came to shove, literally, I would respond with what would more than likely be excessive force, repeatedly.
My thoughts and prayers go with those that can attend. I appreciate their taking the fight to the enemy and making those that would do the troops harm understand that they do not control the field. I hope that the nation will wake up and turn itself around and recognize these shts for what they are. I do not think this will happen, at least not in my life time.
There may come the day when my training and skills will be needed again, and this time it will not be in some hell hole of a country on the other side of the world, but here at home, and that makes my heart hurt more than words can convey.
Thank God for freepers that are good and peaceful, for they can do the job that I can not.
Hope to see you there. Look for me. I'll have a flag.
See you there this weekend.
FWIW, I feel the same way. But I can temper my emotions, as can you, because we are professionals.
We were trained in the art of war, not the science of diplomacy.
We will never be tapped for the diplomatic corps, nor will we ever be protocol officer.
We are not pretty, but we are dependable and trustworthy.
We have had the very best training in the world, by other professionals, who taught us that to lose your head in battle is to lose your life.
To lose your cool in debate, is to lose the argument.
The last two Fridays, I have been privileged to associate with the group standing the line on the east side of Georgia Ave.
In those two instances, I have not heard the Code Pinkos degrade or diminish the servicemen and women in Walter Reed.
They will not do that in front of us.
Their strategy is to appear sincere, just like it tells them to do in Marx's book.
They lie on paper.
Just like Marx instructed.
They use the veil of sincerity to mask their hatred of our military, and especially our C-in-C.
It is their treachery, and deceit we must overcome.
It is OUR prescence, OUR visibilty, which caused the change in the signs and resulted in the propaganda which Mr Silverback posted here and the leaflet which was distributed last Friday night.
Your prescence, your visibility on the line with us, will strengthen our cause, and weaken theirs.
The soldiers, sailors, airmen and my Brother Marines healing and working in that building across the street know we are sincere.
They also know code pink is NOT.
I will promise you this, if you change your mind: You have my permission to yell, holler, scream, rant, whatever, AT ME.
I will keep you out of jail, and if not, I'll go your bail.
Whaddayasay, Bra?
Join an old Marine, we'll have some fun, laugh at the lefty's, and give comfort to healing comrades.
What the hell else we gonna do?
and I'll bring the Mist.
Union jobs! Yep, they don't have any agenda besides supporting those troops! Right!
What a piece of crap that 16 September report is.
They sure follow the Marxist playbook don't they?
The only person the DC police even spoke to was the guy with the sign in Spanish, who kept stepping into the street and harassing the motorists.
I hope they stay til the bus comes back this time.
Who wants odds on the 9 PM run away?
They've been reading OUR after action reports, tgs..
Man, you have a way with words!
