Sacramento Stop of Pro-Troop Bus Tour

Monday, September 19- Sacramento, CA

Supporters Greeted the Pro-Troop Bus Tour in Sacramento

The “We Support Our Troops & Their Mission” Bus Tour made its third stop of its first day across the country in front of the Move America Forward headquarters at 770 L Street in Sacramento, California. Talk show host Mark Williams of NewsTalk 1530 AM - KFBK emceed, Marine Mom Deborah Johns and Gold-Star Dad Joseph Williams addressed the crowd, and singer Kaweah Angel sang the Star-Spangled Banner and led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance. The tour will make nineteen more stops, winding up in Washington, DC for a rally on September 25.

The enthusiastic crowd included Bunny Troutman of Fair Oaks, who turned out to let the delegation leading the tour know that she supports our troops and their mission, no matter what the media might say to undermine American support for the war against terrorism. Mary Burgess of Vacaville, who also attended the rally at the Vacaville Veterans Hall, wanted to support the troops, the Flag, and the Pledge [of Allegiance]. “My son goes to school near Travis Air Force Base, and I seem them flying out every day. I just wanted to thank them,” she said.

Also in attendance was Bill Hutchens and his wife Ruth of Galt. The Hutchens turned out to support the son of a church acquaintance, whose son is currently serving in Iraq.

Connie Pueblo and her friend Kim Parigoris, both of Lodi, were first-timers at a support-the-troops rally. Mrs. Pueblo’s brother, a member of the National Guard, served a tour in Iraq and is currently in New Orleans, helping with the Hurricane Katrina cleanup effort. Mrs. Parigoris came out because of the media. She wanted to send a message of support to the troops that could not be twisted.

The tour left for two more stops of the first day with a rally at the Wal-Mart in Reno, Nevada and a stop at the Red Lion Inn in Elko, Nevada. Sheets can be signed with messages of support at each stop along the way. The Sheets will be sent to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan at the conclusion of the rally.
