Alicia was a minimal category 3.

She ripped holes in my high school's roof.

will be back as soon as storm passes.

I am going out to pick up supplies tonight-water, batteries, ammo, etc. I'm actually in Ft Bend County (The Meadows), so I hope I can stick it out.

Aww, man!

Not Port A! That's cutting it too close.

Say somewhere else, please.

Not likely any of them ever told them it was getting stale

I don't believe the Lt. General hears anybody telling him much of anything besides "yessir!"

Man, this storm is getting huge. We're getting outer rain bands all the way up here in Sarasota. Winds gusting to 20-30 mph. I shudder to think what's going to happen next.

People are already going weird here in Houston. At the Sam's by The Woodlands they can't unpack the bottled water fast enough. The place is packed.

Ha! Here was my thinking: My husband drives up there about 2x a month. It typically takes him about 4.5 hours. Since he typically drives like a bat out of hell I figured 4.5 x 85 mph which is about 383 miles. It takes us a little over an hour to get to Galveston (once again driving like a bat out of hell), so that was an additional 50-60 miles. Did some generous rounding of numbers and that's my math! LOL =)

Ping to important evacuation info in #892

Yikes! Bad news for Galveston..

They won't come and yank anyone out of their homes, but those
who remain are pretty much going to be on their own regarding emergency services.

It'd take quite a bit for me to evac.

Lets see, I live in Rockport about 35 mile north of Corpus Christi.
When I look down the street I can see Aransas Bay.

Do I need to worry?

Yup, Lt. Generals do not listen to, or play well with, others.

He was pretty abrasive in that news conference. Someone may try to reign him in because you know it has to piss off the media.

Just for general interest and perspective. Keeping in mind there was no FEMA, or Federal anything to come in and sweep up for the 1900 storm .

Do I need to worry?

No one can answer that question. It's your decision to make.

How far is Houston from the coast? What kind of damage would, say a Cat 4, do to Houston homes if Rita hit the coast closest to it and came through Houston?

Nope, buy a couple of bottles and take a nap, you may or may not wake up with a hangover.

I'll be right there with you. Head towards 6 on Airport, turn left on Eldridge. Howdy, Sugar Land. Call it, what? Five miles apart?
