A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

ood morning, FRiends. I have often wished I had a *generic* table to post on days when I'm short of time, or low on creativity, and can't think of a theme or can't find the right graphics when I *have* a theme. So, here it is - I made one - and you will probably see it again 'cause it just says WELCOME!
I'm calling it my "Ain't Got No Theme" or "Ain't Got No Graphics" table. When you see it, you will know it's one or the other - or BOTH! Do hope you'll stop in, have a cup of coffee, share your thoughts, pick a theme, post a picture, offer a suggestion for a future theme, offer to WRITE a future thread, or just wave as you drive by. :)
HOWEVER...... the ever resourceful Miss Maggie Malone, aka LadyX, not long ago suggested a theme for *whenever* it might come in handy, and I'm taking advantage of it today. (See? A theme!) Ain't got no graphics, though. (OK, maybe one.) Ready to play?
*I*, of course, have never had any many. : )

Went to your screen shot, freezie. Sorry, it's still brown and periwinkle (but the colors would not be any different than those in the post, unless the colors of your screen shot had been altered in some way).
My monitor has been fine tuned and color balanced order to show me as true colors as possible because, when retouching portraits in photoshop, I have to be able to see the colors, especially skin tones as they are.

Hi billie. FINALLY just getting here. Love the theme (and AS ALWAYS beautiful presentation!)
Maggie...great idea for a thread!
And the graphic from our favorite wolfie is too too cute! Perfect for our "sistah" who keeps this place together!

Yummmm! Fresh apple pie? :) Not this batch of apples.....applesauce and apple butter.
Blueberries for pie are in the freezer and now I'm waiting for hubby to get home to fill and haul the canner to the stove for me for the blueberry jam I really should be tending right now :)

these tables must not be wider than 6 inches on your monitor; They are a little over 7 and 1/2 inches wide. At first it looked very odd, but I am used to it now. Only problem is, when I make graphics now I have to be very careful to keep them small enough so that they don't stretch out my tables which I still configure for people using 800x600. That took a little getting used to.
and you HAVE to have enlarged your font for viewing, haven't you?
No. The font is smaller, but it's easily readable.

Ok, I have a new question. Now that I am using Windows XP, I find I cannot do a partial view source. What do I need to do to get that back? Are there some particular settings I need to adjust?
Louie, you use AOL, too - can you do partial view source?

I don't think I could get through the day without "view partial source", I use it all the time.

I'm thinking we might all need a fall-back-on, generic thread for those days we haven't had time to prepare something new. With this one, I can omit the last part - with the *theme* from Maggie - or change it to some other thought or question. :)
You know, I had this one done for Wednesday the 7th LOL! And guess what I didn't do when I posted it this morning!!! Yep! I used the links for Labor Day and Military Monday on Tuesday Sept 5 & 6!!! The Admin Mod must have thought I lost it - I wrote them 3 different times and don't think I ever made much sense! But bless his/her heart - someone figured out what I intended! :)

Thank you for the link. With Windows 98 SE, the view partial source was automatic - no download/plug in was necessary if you had IE 5 or later. I just discovered last night that it wasn't *here* - ANYWHERE that I could find!!!

Billie. I was just going to say that lori showed me how to do it when we met in Columbus. BUT...I must be a creature of old habit. I think when I messed up some threads...it's from going back and forth between partial view so I still do the same old same old...go to FR and pray I don't his post LOL!
To: Mama_Bear
P.S. - WHERE do you install it when you download it? In Program Files/Internet Explorer/ Plugins? Where?

Okay, sistahs...SO how do you find out how many threads and posts you've done. Gosh....I AM in the dark ages aren't I????? (and dolly...you ARE on for Thursday right???? I'll be happy to help though!)
To: Billie
You don't have to install it. Just download it to wherever it wants to download and it should work. You might have to reboot, I can't remember.

LOL...glad to see the "pro" makes an occasional mistake :o)
Okay...am going to go back and do a little "hostessing" :o)
To: Mama_Bear
I think that's what I have to do - reboot, because I noticed that it installed wherever it was supposed to, and nothing has changed.
Will be back! Thanks again!

Thanks for possting at the FINEST. And thank you for your service to our county!

I was just going to say that lori showed me how to do it when we met in Columbus. I think what I showed you was how to view your post as a notepad html file in an Internet Explorer window. What Billie needs is the little program that allows you to view "partial" source, rather than the full source. :-)
