Victims Less Angry Than Bush-Haters
The Pittsburgh Post Gazette ^ | September 19, 2005 | Ruth Ann Dailey

Posted on 09/19/2005 6:50:00 PM PDT by mcg2000

Instead of "he said, she said," today's column concerns "They said, you said, I said."

"They" are the hardy souls rounded up by ABC News to listen to President Bush's speech to the nation Thursday night. I happened to tape the event and was so astonished by it that I made a transcript. What they said illuminates what you said in response to what I said -- or what you think I said -- last Monday.

Reporter Dean Reynolds found a dozen people -- all African-Americans -- who'd been evacuated from the flooded streets of New Orleans, sat with them outside the Houston Astrodome and interviewed them as soon as the president's speech ended.

Reynolds' first question was to a woman named Connie London: "You heard the president say you are not alone . . . Do you believe him?"

"Yes," she said, "because here in Texas they've been truly good to us."

Americans should be proud to have Texas as a state!

You should have seen the look on Reynolds' face when he got the unexpected answers. He looked like someone cut the cheese.

The victims may understand the reality of the Katrina situation, but the MSM and the socialist democrats sure as hell don't! Just as the looters saw an opportunity in New Orleans, the socialists saw an opportunity to slam the Bush administration while protecting their beloved governor and mayor with a 'human life and patriotism be damned' attitude. Anyone who could assign more blame for the loss of life in New Orleans to GW Bush and not question the actions of the governor and mayor obviously has another motive swirling around in their head.

Yes, whatchoo said!

It's disgustingly sad that some see loss of property and loss of life as an opportunity to gain politically.

And we Texans are proud to be Americans as well. It means a lot for the compliment to be coming from a Coloradan. Louisana is going to have a difficult time dragging their voters (read victims of incompetency and corruption) back to the slums.

No, way, you're not pinning her on us. We have to deal with her by marriage and her late husband is spinning like a 45. This is NOT her home, she's just an obnoxious in-law.

The town IS however as left as they wanna be. We haven't had a republican mayor since before FDR, and shockingly enough, Pittsburgh is regarded as being racist, high on welfare, low on private business, high on taxes, low on entrepreneurship(holy crap I never actually tried to spell that!). It's no wonder, we've been controlled by democrats and unions for 70 years.

Unfortunately in the next 72-96 hours, it looks like Texas will be the next victim of nature, especially the Freeport, Galveston, Houston area. The only ray of hope for those people in harm's way is that the local governments are not incompetent and corrupt like Louisiana. Nonetheless, God help us all.

TK's parents were peace corps or foreign legion or something. She was born somewhere in Africa and grew up there for the most part. So she is in fact African-American.

I can proudly say that we are organized and ready. While the media was crying about no plans for shelter, our county commisioners courts were organizing not just temporary shelter; but longer term solutions. We had greater than 265,000 people that were helped, ministered to, and provided with interim housing as well. The amazing thing is that when the people are given the opportunity to decide for themselves, they generally try to improve the situation.
Graft and corruption exist in Texas no doubt. Not to the institutionalized degree that is still in Louisana though.
Prayers and good wishes help a lot. Added to good planning and preparation, the Lord shall certainly bless us all.

Louisana is going to have a difficult time dragging their voters (read victims of incompetency and corruption) back to the slums.

That sounds true. Many of those people have been offered jobs in areas where they can have decent homes and good schools for the kids. Going back to the slums is only appealing for the ones who are real deadbeats (and I think they are a small minority)

BTW, I have read that TX used this disaster to test the shelter plans they had for their own people in case of a hurricane there. I'd say they did a very good job. I certainly hope that Rita doesn't hit TX, but if she does, I think Texans will have a much better situation than the New Orleanians did.
Electing competent local and state officials pays off.

Praying that Rita will be a dud.......

And We Americans SHOULD be very glad for Our President George W. Bush!!

Yes, there are certain shortcomings like: Illegal Immigration, CAFTA, that don't ring true with many of us.

What is truly Important is that President Bush is everything, and I mean, EVERYHTING, that the Liberals, the Socialists, the Communists & Jihadists could ONLY wish to be.
