Anti-Pledge lawyer files amicus-curiae on behalf of terrorist Hamdan vs Rumsfeld in SCOTUS
US Supreme Court, Docket 05-184 ^ | September 18, 2005 | nwrep

Posted on 09/18/2005 7:54:29 PM PDT by nwrep

In response to a decision by the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals made on July 15, 2005 (joined by Judge John Roberts) which upheld the constitutionality of the military tribunals, terrorist Salim Hamdan has filed a plea motion to the US Supreme Court to reconsider this case and overturn the previous ruling. This petition was filed August 8, 2005 in the case entitled Hamdan vs Rumsfeld.

David Remes

Joining the terrorist in his petition as amici curiae (friendly briefs) are a host of interesting anti-American characters. Chief among them is David H. Remes, a staunch anti-pledge of allegiance attorney and frequent crusader for liberal causes. According to the website www.undergodprocon.org which compiles a list of pro and anti-pledge interests, David Remes represented Edward Myers in the 4th Circuit case to strike down a Virginia law the required daily recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools. Remes also represented Americans United for Separation of Church and State and American Civil Liberties Union as amici in Elk Grove Unified Sch. Dist. vs Newdow.

The profile of Remes compiled on this website is available here:

IN addition to his work against the pledge of allegiance, Remes is also a major contributor to John Kerry:

He'll lose the case and cost the government time and money doing so.

It's past time to bring back the Articles of Sedition Act.

This makes me sick. Our founding fathers were men of religion who recognized the role God played in the founding of the nation. Ignoring that ignores our history.

I wonder if CHEIF JUSCTICE ROBERTS will grant them a hearing? 10,000 case are presented to the SCOTUS each year and they hear about 80.

Roberts has promised to recuse himself from this

When did he do that? Why would he do that?

He did that when Biden (I think) pressed him on it, because he had ruled on the matter in a lower court.

I watched the hearings three times (honestly) and never heard this exchange.

I did have to hit the mute button a lot while Biden, Schumer, Fiengold, Kennedy, and Turban were talking but tried to listen while Roberts responded.

I can only think of ONE good use for lawyers and their MASTERS in black robes --- trawling for great whites!

It would be fun to watch their bodies being spit out of the sharks' mouths.

Even if they did, filing lawsuits would never get under that banner.

If it would then I would fear it like the plague. Being able to seek legal redress is so fundamental to a free society no matter how repugnant the litigants are. Besides making it illegal would merely push these activities under the table. At least this way we know who the players are.
