Caroline Kennedy just said, "My mother always encouraged John and I to read poetry."
Obviously she should have had them read some basic English texts. That would be "John and me."
And she was the smart one in the family!
All that poetry reading did John a lot of good, he married a Coke head that had violent temper tantrums, and was physically abusive to John even in public. Caroline strikes me as a tortured person, who unfortunately had seriously flawed relatives as role models. It is ironic that as good a role model her Mother was, she made a serious error in judgment when she Became Jackie O. She did it for her Children undoubtedly, but she was talented in her own right and did not have to stoop to the Greek Shipping magnate to give her Children a decent life.
Wrong pronoun.
I is nominative case.
Should be objective case "me."
