I love to see Chistopher Hitchins in action, but I have a hard time understanding his accent when he talks so fast. He is so very intelligent and is so articulate, but I feel like using closed caption to understand him. He is truly a gem as lefties go, unless you are Mother Theresa.

Mr Former President, why in 1998 did your Administration scrap an Army Corp of Engineers plan to raise the New Orleans levees to withstand a Cat 5 Hurricane as "not cost effect"?

Aha ... here is a reference to multiple flood control projects. The articles are taken from the Times-Picayune.

Nothing for 1998, but this one from 1995 deescribes a "holding up of a study," and thereby preventing Congress from allocating funds.

- READ THE STUFF AT THE LINK - There are 15 to 20 separate stories, and taken together provide a more accurate picture of the complexity of the issue(s).

June 23, 1995
A hurricane project, approved and financed since 1965, to protect more than 140,000 West Bank residents east of the Harvey Canal is in jeopardy.

The Clinton administration is holding back a Corps of Engineers report recommending that the $120 million project proceed. Unless that report is forwarded to the Office of Management and Budget, Congress cannot authorize money for the project, U.S. Rep. William Jefferson's office said Thursday.

Thanks snugs, but I'm hoping for a glancing blow rather than direct hit from this one but you never know. Looks like it may parallel the Keys.We are on the strong side of it however.

That new TV show debuting this week will no doubt portray the women president as a strong person. This will rehabilitate the Blanco image to Hillary's benefit.

Though nearly a month had passed since the storm first hit, Witt said his agency was just beginning to address the problem.

LOL. Thanks, Mo1. That's exactly the piece I had in mind. And Timmy was outraged that all is not perfect in Louisiana after 3 whole weeks.

I am so damn much smarter than anyone else in the whole world!"

It is especially pathetic since Biden is the worst sort of psuedo-intelelctual poseur with no demonstrated intellectual abilities at all. Biden just regurgitates the propaganda lies fed him by his European Socialists masters and our brain dead Dinosaur Media just laps it up.

This is the group that stalled some major plans of the Corp of Engineers for Lake Pontchartrain ......they know they are in the spotlight and have a statement.

saveourwetlands.org

***********************************

THE CORPS 1977 HURRICANE BARRIER PLAN WOULD NOT HAVE SAVED NEW ORLEANS FROM HURRICANE KATRINA

THE CORPS 1965-POST HURRICANE BARRIER PLAN WOULD NOT HAVE SAVE NEW ORLEANS FROM HURRICANE KATRINA

"Al Naomi, a senior project manager for the corps, said the levees and control structures in the post-1965 plan were not big enough to control a surge and protect the city".

Also in a September 2, 2005 article in the Wall Street Journal titled "Corps of Engineers Takes Heat on Levees" Mr. Naomi is quoted in regard to the breech at the 17th street canal:

"Mr. Naomi said an I-wall section of the levee did indeed fail, and he agreed that a T-wall design design probably wouldn't have".

DESTRUCTION OF PLAQUEMINES PARISH (IMAGES): Plaqemines Parish lies alongside the expanding Mississippi River Gulf Outlet, which is another horrendous United States Army Corps of Engineers BOO-BOO project. The wetlands in the parish have also been cut by 100's of oil company canals.

FORMER UNITED STATES OF ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS EX-COUNSEL JOE TOWERS MAKES A MISLEADING STATEMENT, A STATEMENT WHICH CONTRADICTS WHAT AL NAOMI SAID

"If we had built the barriers, New Orleans would not be flooded," said Joseph Towers, the retired chief counsel for the Army Corps of Engineers New Orleans district.

JOE TOWERS THE CORPS' EX-COUNSEL MAKES AN UNTRUE, RECKLESS AND UNJUST STATEMENT THAT JUDGE CHARLES SCHWARTZ JR. CONDEMNED THE CITY:
"My feeling was that saving human lives was more important than saving a percentage of shrimp and crab in Lake Pontchartrain," Towers said. "I told my staff at the time that this judge had condemned the city."

THIS IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE

JUDGE CHARLES SCHWARTZ's JUDGMENT on BEHALF of CO PLAINTIFFS ST. TAMMANY PARISH and SAVE OUR WETLANDS DID NOT PRECLUDE CORPS 1977 BARRIER PLAN

"The foregoing opinion should in no way be construed as precluding the Lake Pontchartrain project as proposed or reflecting on its advisability in any manner. The Court’s opinion is limited strictly to the finding that the environmental impact statement of August, 1974 for this project was legally inadequate. Upon proper compliance with the law with regard to the impact statement this injunction will be dissolved and any hurricane plan thus properly presented will be allowed to proceed".

New Orleans, Louisiana, this 30th day of December, 1977.

JUDGE CHARLES J. SCHWARTZ JR.

CO PLAINTIFFS ST. TAMMANY PARISH and SAVE OUR WETLANDS UNJUSTLY ACCUSED of STOPPING CORPS 1977 BARRIER PLAN

IT'S CORPS WHO MAKES DECISION NOT to PROCEED with THEIR 1977 BARRIER PLAN AFTER JUDGE SCHWARTZ ISSUES JUDGMENT THAT ORIGINAL PLAN IS BASED ON LIES

Order- Judge Schwartz's Decision 1977

Please check this website every 3 days for updates. We are doing our best in these trying times to bring out the truth. Thank you.

yes Col Hunt heard this info from his friends in the Military down in NOLA and from his friends in various Police agencies such as NYPD that are helping out down there. This should have been a front page story in most Major Newspapers, but they are too busy blaming George Bush for everything. They do not realize the harm they are causing by covering up really important stories like this.

He said they came with rubber boats and used quiet trolling motors to get access to major Banks,Jewelry Stores, high value merchandise stores, and fled with over 60 million dollars worth.

Shows what well armed individuals can do when there is a power vacuum.
< /sarcasm>

Now if the governor had enough balls to recognize that early on and responded with force, some of the tragedy could likely have been adverted.

can even consider this juvenile as a candidate.

Biden is only a candidate in Biden's own child like mind. He polled worse then Newt in New Jersey! He's from DELEWARE and he cannot even poll well in next door Democrat stronghold NEW JERSEY?

I don't trust Brazile. She is saying this now as she knows this is going to be a good thing to rebuild New Orleans and she will soon be joined in this by Hillary IMHO. Bill being buddies with former President Bush and now Hillary moving to the center. All for show, all for the next election. Hillary wants power at all costs. It's all a smoke screen. When I saw Bill on all the shows this morning I kept thinking, he thinks he is the great and powerful OZ. The media couldn't push the Clinton agenda more.I switched and caught most of the shows, did anyone speak about the responsibility of Nagin or Blanco. Maybe it's just me.
