September 15, 2005 -- THE October issue of Blender magazine, on newsstands Tuesday, lists "The 500 Greatest Songs Since You Were Born," which, for their readers, means the best songs since 1980.

No. 1 is "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson. Catchy, important. A good choice.

A Yoko Ono song made the list of 500. Yikes!

They never pick any of the music I would.

I sincerely hope they included "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell. A song so brilliantly crafted and so frequently played by radio stations has to end up on a list like this one.

Where can I see the complete list without buy a copy of Blender (which I won't)?

The only song the the top ten that I can agree with is U2's One.

The rest are crap. I guess it's more of a list what's currently popular with 13 year olds and not really a listing of what's good.

Terrible top 10 list. I half-like the Outkast and Nirvana ones. Yoko Ono in the top 500 -- sign of the Apocalypse? :)

The list isn't posted on the Blender website yet. I was the beneficiary of getting the mag via a FF mile subscription. You know -- I had like 25,500 miles, used 25K for a ticket earlier this summer and used the balance for a free mag. The choices were limited.

I have the list in front of me and am scanning the list now. :-)

Yoko's song at 434 is called "Walking on Thin Ice." Hmmm.

"Welcome to the Jungle" came in at 104. I thought that would be guaranteed top ten material.

Yes, but Yoko has her own school of music with Björk as her first and only graduate. OK yes you are right, it is a sign of the Apocalypse.

Nirvana did have some good if not disturbing songs. They did typify a certain feeling of their generation. Tori Amos did a cover of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and made it her own haunting interpretation.

LOL, that's how I ended up with a subscription to Entertainment Weekly.

Anything worth mentioning on that list?
