Woman in power is powerless when it comes to meeting men
http://www.mcall.com/ ^ | September 17, 2005 | Amy Alkon

Dear Amy: I'd like to be in a relationship again, but I never even get asked out (unless you count frisky 85-year-olds and drunks at the corner bar). I'm a 32-year-old woman who's happy, sociable, and attractive. (I paid for college by modeling and continue to take care of myself.) I'm second-in-command at a big company, financially secure, and own a beautiful home. How can I meet men in general, and more specifically, men I'd actually want to date?

Deluxe Chopped Liver

Dear Deluxe: To scare away vampires, it takes garlic and crosses, which make ugly bulges in sleek, satin evening bags. Luckily, all you have to do to scare away men is pull out a business card that says ''senior vice president.''

''Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac,'' said Henry Kissinger. Sure it is — unless you're a woman. Research by Stephanie L. Brown and Brian P. Lewis, published in Evolution and Human Behavior (Nov. '04), seems to confirm what many lonely women at the top already know: When guys go for the woman in the boardroom, it isn't the woman running the meeting but the secretary who wheeled in the coffee and croissants before it started.

Sure, plenty of men will scamper up the corporate ladder for a one-night stand. But, according to Brown and Lewis' study, men looking for dates or relationships tend to prefer their subordinates to their colleagues or bosses. The researchers hypothesize that men evolved to want women they can control as a means of guarding against ''parental uncertainty'' — unwittingly raising kids fathered by the Neanderthal next door as their own. Brown and Lewis think this may also explain why men are suckers for ''behavioral expressions of vulnerability'' — women who act like they might not be able to make it across the street

I'm suprised you aren't in a cocktail lounge eyeing the talent! LOL

I'm by the pool eyeing the talent... the lounge is for later. ;)

Sunny, clear and 83 in LV. I prefer the night, though!

Call me kooky, Mad Ivan, but I think she really likes you! ;-)

It's rather interesting she would express this by hinting she wanted to provide a "safe harbour" for the United States Navy.

I'm a Goth, but somehow I believe I'm less strange than she is.

Regards, Ivan

I suppose some women think advertising their promiscuity is a "turn-on" for men. Kind of like the guys who insist on telling me they have no need for Viagra, or the one at the bar who boasted that in college he singlehandedly kept the Trojan condom company in business.

Well, women have a strange way of communicating sometimes. I recently had a very attractive woman from my past, who shot me down almost 10 years ago email me out of the blue. She felt compelled to tell me how she is going to law school part time (has about 4 years to go) and that she isn't married and has no children yet.

She did make it a point to ask how that 'young girl' I was dating was doing (thing is she is about her age but in much better shape than the email writer is in these days).

Funny thing is, she didn't learn about the galpal from me. Women talk about us guys all the time, you know, much more than us men talk about the women we know.

Okay I get your drift. I haven't really given it much thought because, like I said in earlier posts, I always dated older men.

Never dated a guy who was less than 10 years older than me.

However, I have known some guys who truly desired older women -- Not a whole lot older, but older than them. But of course the women were attractive older women.

Had a few hit on me in the past. It was flattering.

I sat through exactly one full (very first) episode of that show when it came out. Yeck.

To me striped bass is the best eating fish going.
Haven't gotten into turkey hunting much, love seeing them
in the woods though, if you can see a turkey before he
sees you, you're doing good, got to cover your eyes though,
they can see them a mile away. I have lost count of the
times, I've been watching them and realized they were
looking me right in the eye and off they went.
Deer hunting is my passion though.
My brother is a fulltime striper guide on Lake Lanier here
in Georgia and I guide part time.

Women like the one who wrote this article have basically made their beds and now are lying in them.

Men are not complicated creatures: give them their beer, their dinner and their loving and they will belong to their women for life.

The first thing is to make a man feel good when he is with you- it's not rocket science. This means, if you're a woman, loving the fact that you are female and reveling in your feminine qualities and, through those qualities, exuding to a man that you truly like him and love being around him. Men know without a doubt when they have met up with a hostile, resentful, miserable woman and those women will be left strictly alone.

Make a man feel like a man and believe me, he will take it from there. I am so sick and tired of hearing these women whine and cry about the fact that they are alone and cannot find a man- they should try thinking for themselves and not buy into the feminist lies and they may have a chance at true happiness.

I suppose some women think advertising their promiscuity is a "turn-on" for men.

Not me. I prefer a woman who is a lady in public, and saves being a wildcat for private moments. And indeed, is a monogamous wildcat. ;)

Kind of like the guys who insist on telling me they have no need for Viagra, or the one at the bar who boasted that in college he singlehandedly kept the Trojan condom company in business.

There are moments in life where Graham Chapman, dressed as the Colonel from Monty Python, should burst in and say, "Stop that, stop that, it's silly."

Because it's fun, Mr. J! Though I love politics, this is always my favorite topic! We are doing God's work, I like to think! ;-)

If nothing else, educating the brethren on the true nature of the conflict is commendable.

In my experience, women define "take charge as needed" as "take charge when I don't want to..."

So?

the big question is: what does she have to offer any guy (aside from sex)?
The next question: is she as totally self-centered as she comes across?

You may be right.......but that's not where I'm coming from. I call those type of guys....users, losers and players. If I had to "settle" for that.....I'd just as soon be alone and not waste my time.

So?

The reciprocal of "take charge when I don't want to..." is "don't take charge when *I* want to."

Again, in my experience, women want to captain the ship till they're fifty yards from the rocks.
