To me striped bass is the best eating fish going.
Haven't gotten into turkey hunting much, love seeing them
in the woods though, if you can see a turkey before he
sees you, you're doing good, got to cover your eyes though,
they can see them a mile away. I have lost count of the
times, I've been watching them and realized they were
looking me right in the eye and off they went.
Deer hunting is my passion though.
My brother is a fulltime striper guide on Lake Lanier here
in Georgia and I guide part time.
tet68,
I have fished on Lanier. I have a friend who used to live on the lake. Nice lake.
Yes stripers are tasty, I agree.
Do you read Georgia Outdoor News?
I'm right here in Tennessee, close to Knoxville.
I lurked on FR for years, and have read a lot of your posts. I always wondered if you were in the Tet offensive. I have another friend in S.C. who was, and he told me all about it.
I actually grew up next to a big artillery base in Oklahoma, during the Viet Nam years.
Yes turkeys can see better than any animal, I think.I actually was hunting with a guy once and a hen spotted us and I had my finger pointed in mid-air and had to hold it there for about 30 minutes while she fed past us. Didn't want her to give off an alarm call to her suiters.
If you are a primitive hunter I bet you shoot a muzzleloader huh? Ever shot a Markesbery muzzleloader? Top of the line. Do you shoot a compound bow?
Maybe someday I can do some fishing with you two and write/publish a story about it.
BTW, I am currently editing a book for a retired Marine, and it covers the Viet Nam years. It has the potential to be a bestseller. I used to edit his work in magazines, he is a expert on ballistics and muzzleloaders.
