On Thursday, Maj. Gen. Rick Lynch said the security forces had killed 226 militants and captured 757 in recent operations in Mosul and its vicinity. Pretty impressive body count. There is a real war going on out there and we are winning.

On Saturday, however, Iraqi authorities in Mosul announced that 500 detainees "who have not been proven guilty" had been released from detention. What are we doing capturing these vermin? This is a war, they all need to be killed. Jailing them just gives the 'rats over here something to whine about. Killing them with cruise missiles and bombs would be preferable instead of endangering our ground troops. This sounds too much like a "police action".
