Posted on 09/16/2005 5:22:01 PM PDT by gusopol3

The Louisiana State Police scanners had officers pulling over stolen cars (actually lots of brand new Caddies) laden with looters and their booty all over LA on Wed. and Thurs. nights.

I agree with you, and they were allowing no one into the city.

Law and order was broken. I think there were numerous access routes for determined thugs.

I agree unless they had the foresight to be there before the
storm hit.

Colonel Hunt said the gangs came with boats and SUV's and that they were well organized, complete with communication devices.

STILL hard to believe outsiders were largely responsible for the looting.

I'd have to see proof.

I agree...sometimes Col. Hunt does the "Mansour Ijaz" gig and quotes as gospel as his imagination would have it.

I'd have to see proof.

Good thugs don't leave evidence. There will be no proof. That's the beauty of it!

If they got to the west, like Baton Rouge, of NO before the storm it is entirely possile. Maybe that is why the bridge to Gretna was closed. Those official new what was happening. It would make sense if so.

By Wednesday A.M, there was a whole flotilla of boats of rescuers that were shown on TV trying to gain access and being denied--these were the people who were cooperating with police. They got there somehow.

The gangs could have moved in ahead of time. Friday midday it was obvious to most people except Blanco, Nagin, and the energy markets that the storm was heading for New Orleans.

If you were out of state gangs you would want to move people in ahead of time. Nagin had no plan. He didn't even have a plan to separate the criminal sex offenders and homeless that came into the superdome first from the rest of the population of women and children.

"Some" proof = the booty being pawned in the cities Colonel Hunt said the gangs came from: Miami, Dallas and Memphis.

I agree with you, and they were allowing no one into the city. That's certainly the experience of the Red Cross; they still have that up on their web site. Hurricane Katrina: Why is the Red Cross not in New Orleans?

Perhaps the Red Cross didn't know the local cops expected to get paid for letting people in.

I'm thinking if I'm the retailer and a bit unscrupulous, I hide the goods and file insurance claims.

And how will the booty be traceable to NOLA? Smart thugs leave scant trace. Some thugs are smart. But that's isn't the point of the thread.

The point is whether or not any organized crime that normally lives outside of NOLA came into NOLA to take advantage of the disaster. Some call BS on that. I thought you too called BS on that.

OK....I say all the gangs came in from Texas, and Missouri. There were no gangs or looter types in New Orleans before the hurricane, and all the gangs in Texas said, "Hey, big ol hurricane coming, lets go!".

Col. Hunt on O'Reilly Reports "out of state" gangs invaded New Orleans

In that case we need to disarm the citizens of NO.
