Architect Reveals Flight 93 Memorial Redesign

A spokesman for the new design said that the panel wanted to avoid all controvery or symbols of Islamism in the new design, and so chose a happy, uplifting central feature, the folded table cloth from a family-style Italian bistro.
"Everyone loves bistros," the spokesman said. "A lot of people think of Heaven as a nonstop family-style sharing of calamari and mussels in hot sauce, and we think this design symbolizes that. We're happy to have finally put this controversy behind us.

I expect him to revise it by using a huge smiley face in lieu of the crescent of embrace.

People died here.
As stupid as the original design is, I fail to find the humor in turning this into a joke.

Hmmm. I think it's 'curtains' for that design, also. 8-p

People die everywhere. It is not the fault of the author of this parody. He/She did so due to the actual design of the memorial plans. If you must find fault find it with the original design. Think about it. : )

As stupid as the original design is, I fail to find the humor in turning this into a joke. Interestingly, I don't even see this as humor but rather a comment on the absurdity of the original design and its ridiculous explanation of it.

Absolutely! This is not poking fun at the deaths of the heroes of flt 93, it is poking fun at the idiots who designed the last memorial.
One of the most important things which allows the American people to rise above and continue on following a disaster is our ability to laugh and to find humor in the grimmest of events. It is the nature of Americans to never give in to maudlin feelings of grief. Americans never wallow in grief, we grieve and get over it so that we can move on to kicking butt.

Actually I find quite a lot to laugh at here on FR.
:)
But when I think of those men, women, small children slamming into the ground in a gruesome death - I honestly can not find any room for humor even remotely associated with this event.
The person(s) who came up with the original design must be the ultimate moron - it's an insult to the people who died there.
But to turn the issue into a joke makes me uncomfortable. I just think such an event deserves a little more respect. Leave the mockery to the Left.

Yeah, okay, but is it facing east? Otherwise, I like the subtlety. :o)
