Report: Fayetteville (N.C.) Freep of the Cindy Tour
dstarr

Hi, all. We had a great time Freeping the Cindy Tour. I think they were a little surprised when they pulled up in their rented RV and saw all of us waiting for them. I was really encouraged at our turnout. I think we had between 25 & 30 and the Cindinistas had about 30. Since we were the first group there, we had picked which side of the Market House area we wanted. Naturally, we chose the shady side, leaving them to the mercy of the sun. The Cindinistas were also a little upset when they couldn't pull their vehicles in on the side where we were to unload all of their signs. I suggested they carry them like I did. The police must have told them the same thing as they didn't pull in to unload. Some of their group didn't even hold signs but just stood there giving the "peace sign" to persons driving by. There were a couple of them who tried to get into arguments with us but they were hustled away by the LE. The Cindinistas' permit was only for 1 hour, so we watched them leave and cheered them on their way with me telling them that "Pacifists are terrorist allies." Several persons were interviewed by the press. I know that Channel 11 had Gilbert Baez there. He never came by our side. He stayed over on the lefty side the whole while he was there. I think the media that came to our side were all from the print media. I told several on our side to check out FreeRepublic.com when they asked how we had organized. It was just a bunch of fun.

Hey, sounds like a good freep.

Don't let them use the PEACE SIGN anymore. Dip your fingers in purple ink and give the V sign back to them as meaning "Victory in Iraq" -- that will tick them off.

Need many more details too: was SIN-dy there? Were the section 8's from Veterans for Peace there? Were the dastardly Code Pink Kommies there?

Thanks! How do I get the spelling in the title fixed? I'm going to see if I can put my pictures on Webshots.

I don't think the Pinkos were there. We had our backs to each other for the most part. The Market House sits on a traffic circle. From what I understand Medea Benjamin is supposed to be around Chapel Hill today. I don't know if that's right. I might have the days mixed up.

Can someone kindly fix the title to read "Fayetteville Freep of the Cindy Tour"?

That might have been yesterday in Raleigh at the old Capitol Grounds. We didn't have such big trees in the background.

Camp Casey Memorial Stolen
Casey Sheehan's Boots Are Gone

By Deborah Mathews
Staff Writer

September 15, 2005 3:23 PM

CRAWFORD — The Camp Casey Memorial on Prairie Chapel Road was removed by thieves earlier today. Not a single item is left at the memorial site.

Crew members working for McLennan County said they witnessed items being removed by an unidentified individual and contacted their office to inform commissioners.

Upon arrival at Camp Casey, honor guard members who had been at the Crawford Peace House immediately called McLennan County Sheriff’s Deputy R. Polansky to report the theft.

Among the items stolen were numerous crosses, Casey Sheehan’s boots, tents, and other items.

They really shouldn't have stolen her son's boots. To me, that is like someone stealing the flag I was given when my husband died. Even though I don't agree with her at all, that is low.

I agree that no one should have stolen her son's things. But, if they were important to her, she would have taken them. Even if NO ONE touched them, in time the weather and wildlife would have destroyed them.

yeah ... you're right. I couldn't help my initial reaction. I think I need to stop snooping around DU and listening to Scare America Radio, the hate just start seeping in.

They should have left the boots ...

The URL above should take you to the few pictures I took. Once the other side arrived, I forgot all about taking more pictures. All of the signs were eventually held by persons on our side.
