Wolf Blitzer just reminded CNN viewers, just before speech is to start, that the Pres recent approval ratings have been "exceedigly low".
I can't bring myself watch. Dubya is on a fool's mission if he thinks he is going to buy himself out of the morass the MSM and the disingenuous Dimwits have managed to sucker him into.
I'd feel much better if he would call for an immediate re-writing of the "transportation" bill; this time without the near $30 billion in vote-buying pork.
That much dough would go a long way toward cleaning up the world's largest and most corrupt cesspool without costing those of us that are stuck with paying the freight more deficit spending.
It is past time to show some fiscal restraint, and we are as dumb as Chuck Schumer looks if we expect any such thing out of this administration or the congress.
I am sickened by the entire mess.
He needs to wear a button-downed collar.
I hate that,"I feel your pain" crap.
so when did W become a believer in affirmative action? im sure glad i voted R in 2004!
'We have a duty to rectifiy the poverty of New Orleans'?! When you call for the impeachment of Blanco and Nagin for criminal incompentence. Let the local pols, who bought all the votes and created the welfare state of N.O. deal with it.
you go GW ! ! ! God bless you too ! ! !
Bravo!
I have been ashamed of my lack of compassion on this. I have compassion for all of them but it is lacking. I have reasons but still.... I did a job yesterday for a family that rode it out and then came to Missouri after. They have been here a week. I couldn't get them out of bed before 10:30 a.m. Someone else was paying me to go help them. I wasn't very sympathetic because they showed so little respect for those giving them help.
I'm glad he's in the Whitehouse and not John Caviar Kerry. But, he's just going to tick me off.
The President should have started with this ending, then ended. It was a good ending.IMHO
I couldn't hear the first part of the speech over the "ch-ching, ch-chings" going off in my head, but he picked up a lot of steam towards the end.
Given the ongoing, never-ending statements, complaints, actions and attitudes of the overwhelming majority of these people; all I can say is they have received all they are going to get from many of us and frankly, their ungrateful, unthankful, disgraceful race baiting, hateful actions and rhetoric has set race relations back decades.
Tonight the President proclaimed that the government is going to throw hundreds of billions of dollars at the problem and this wealth will just end up in the corrupt hands and control of the politicians and people responsible for the problem to begin with; instead of laying the blame where it rightly belongs and entrusting the reconstruction into the hands of those capable of honestly/faithfully dealing with the problem:
1) Those who willingly and steadfastly refused to leave in spite of the fact they were warned DAYS IN ADVANCE that a category 5 hurricane was heading straight for them.
2) The Mayor of N.O., incompetent mayor Nagin who, during the disaster, never lifted a finger to get the old, poor and disabled out by using the fleets of busses readily at his disposal which now lie under feet of water, useless, like this black mayor who has now set up cushy new digs for himself in Texas.
3 Blanko, the governor of LA; a woman so inept, she failed to take coordinated action and sat on her hands while her state fell apart around her and who, for over 24 hours, could not make up her mind as to accepting or refusing the offer to help from the President of the United States.
These are the people who are to blame; the democratic black mayor and the democratic woman governor; not President Bush and NOT me, my family and the rest of America! However, instead of dealing with the TRUTH and holding those responsible accountable; because the race card has been and is being played, WE are going to be held responsible for the sheer stupidity of others; WE and our childrens children are going to be made to pay, and pay, and pay in order to placate them and rebuild N.O. a city that is surrounded by water and up to 25 feet below sea level! Not only that, the President is going to give the supervision of the BILLIONS of dollars of construction and supervision into the hands of mayor Nagin and govenor Blanko. The result will be; BILLIONS down the toilet.
The guy is spending money like a drunken sailor. Unbelievable
Black families in Houston on ABC ripped Mayor Nagin and sound optimistic about Bush's Katrina Plan.
Too much bloodshed.
I like Haley's interview better than W's speech.
Our President gave a wonderful Address tonight. He is truly the right man for the difficult times we are living in. If I had lost everything I had in this life, I would welcome every opportunity to learn a new trade to help rebuild my city and my life and hope for my family. I can only hope that these people living in poverty for so long would jump on every chance they have to change their lives and also reach some personal fulfillment by working hard to rebuild their lives and their city. There is no doubt in my mind if everyone does their part, they can rebuild. They must work hard though, and those that don't should be ashamed.
