Very true, I now live in earthquake country. However, this is America and I fully believe in our ingenuity, engineering and technological skills to improve the levee and water systems.
Remember many of these improvements would be in place had not the environmentalists continually sued the state (since 1977 I believe) to stop those levee improvements. [See Save Our Wetlands group for one]
Look to the Netherlands - their systems hold against the great North Sea.

Our President wanted the suffering people to know that he will take their blame and he will turn it into something resembling a better life for them, in the end.Well said. Certainly he defused a very critical situation pretty quickly. Tonite I watched JJ on Greta and he was very subdued for him. Those who live in hurricane states know the truth and one can only hope others will eventually learn.

I wouldn't call him a salesman. A salesman is supposed to know his product.GOOD point.

FREE federal land give aways. $5000 FREE money until you find a job or for kids education. Yeah... "Charities and Churches and Business" that's just a smoke screen for people whose eyes glaze over anytime one of those are mentioned. What a mess.
Newz what is YOUR solution to rebuilding a 90,000 sq mile area? come one give us your ideas; can you come up with a better plan then the presidents?

You're most welcome!
I am so sick of posters, who imagine themselves to be "intelligent", even "superior" to the rest of us, but haves less than no knowledge whatsoever, of any factual history, that I'm about to explode. They don't even have a fifth grader's knowledge and yet, they are the very ones castigating the president and the rest of of.
If it wasn't really such a serious problem, it would be funny.

Hey...you're back! WELCOME HOME. :-)

What would Mr. Flood Insurance have those people do until then?No solutions. Just complaints. Just like the left.

I do hope there are plans to suspend the Prompt Payment Act and keep Congress away from the government approved contractor list. Those will be a big help in addition to waiving any disadvantaged business requirements.
I believe the President when he says there will be close scrutiny of expenditures. The organization I work for can bring retired fiscal law attorneys, contract specialists, auditors and project managers out of the woodwork. I look for the rebuilding process to be slow and deliberative. It will have to be if it is to accomplish the stated goals.

We do see him quite differently, Patriciamary.
I think the man before the cameras tonight is the same man on his ranch in Crawford. I don't think he gives, really, two flying figs about race "opinions" on his presidential orders, suggestions, proposals.
I can understand, sorely, your hurt for him, in light of all the verbal and emotional abuse levelled at him by the cranially-impaired, and therefore tourettially-suffering-perpetually Dems and Libs -- but -- I don't think he sees himself as a victim. He's an adult. He knows who he is, and what he's about. He's got a job to do, and he does it.
He's not running for President, again. Why in God's good name would he "pander" to anyone? The man is educated. Has a good grasp of history. He knows. He knows exactly how this is going to layout 100 years from now. And the beneficiaries in America of his plans and proposals will, to my estimate, proclaim him one of the wisest, most tried by public court, Presidents throughout American history.
He really is, about a united America. And united Americans.

"The president called on Congress to quickly pass a plan that would provide property on the federal domain free of charge though a lottery.,,[and also]...[a] proposed creation of 'worker recovery accounts' of up to $5,000 for evacuees to use for job training, education and child care.
I just don't get it. The entitlement goes on...The bank is empty."
Yeah, I get it.
It's called "Uncle Sam is your sugar-daddy -- we control your horizontal..we control the vertical" in the name of creeping socialism.
To: Howlin
"That did not happen" Ok, who am I going to believe; you or my lying eyes and the plethora of photos movies and satellite scans showing nearly the entire city under water teaming with filth and toxins.
Howlin, you are right if you say so, so you feel free to go to N.O. and drink the water once the taps are turned on again in the French quarter or anywhere else in N.O. . As for me, I will take a pass.
A word to the wise; when in N.O., "Don't drink the water", unless you want to get sick and die moie pronto.

Look to the Netherlands - their systems hold against the great North Sea. Excellent point! I know the North Sea is stormy, but do they have hurricaine-equivalents? I am surprised the MSM hasn't glommed on to that system.
To: msnimje
I've heard about the ABC coverage, but didn't see it.
And I'll bet they're not going to replay it for us either. :)

They've invented Metamucil just for that condition ;-)

The color of one's skin should have nothing to do with who is deserving. You must have been sleeping for the last few weeks, because that's all the media and their liberal buddies have been yelling. In a perfect world race is not an issue,in our PC world unfortunately it is.

By your lights, name me three "TRUE CONSERVATIVE POLITICIANS" now holding a federal level office, or in office in the past 50 years.

Whatever the motive, the amount was stupendous and given to a rather small class of persons. We are talking here about the dispossesion of a million people, not a few tens of thousands however worthy they may have been of our aid.
