"The RED CROSS handed out most of those cards; but, by all means, don't let the facts get in the way of your rant. :-)"

The "fact" is, Sherlock, the US gub'mint sponsored the $2,000 debit card giveaway.

It doesn't matter if the Red Cross OR Monte Hall handed them out.

I'm sick to death of the black bashing on these threads.

Understood, and believe it or not I don't disagree with you on that. But to imply there is NO pandering to minorities(blacks in this particular instance) is to turn a blind eye to a potential reality. We can ignore this possible reality til it comes back to bite us again, and again. All the money in the world cannot fix a systemic problem. In fact, may exacerbate it.

Yes, it is a huge risk. But the port of New Orleans is extremely important to the economy of this country. The Mississippi river is extremely important. Like it or not, people are going to have to live within 20 miles of the Gulf coastline.

I don't have a problem with port of New Orleans being rebuilt with federal loans.

I do have a problem with rebuilding homes in a high flood risk zone for people that are too poor to afford flood insurance. We as a nation should be discouraging people from living close to the gulf coast unless they can afford flood insurance.

I'm not trying to start something.

It's just that when someone says they have no clue as to what a Clintonista kneepad wearer is, it reeks of newbie.

"But most of those areas besides the coasts are very sparsely populated."

Some area yes. Others, no. The residents of Jackson may not feel that way for example...

Easily fixed. Put that as a requirement to building there (getting flood insurance.)

Scroll back. I think he talks about flood insurance in every post he's written.

He's GOT to be a salesman! ;)

In the long run we'll be money ahead.

Not to mention tax revenue flowing into the Government coffers from these new business owners, some of whom were previous welfare recipients.

It is the antithesis of the New Deal, it is the Republican version and we should call it "THE REAL DEAL"

Yes, that is why I think his home ownership is a good plan in theory. Of course in NO the only city where corrupt politicians have an investment in subsidized housing. I doubt it and I am opening up a can of worms here.

Kind of makes you wonder why their wealth explodes compared to the govt salary they work so hard to attain.

Do you sell flood insurance?

I know this comes as a shocking concept to Bush-bots, but I am an advocate of personal responsiblity. If you can't afford something then you shouldn't buy it. If you can't afford to insure a home then you shouldn't buy it. Why is this such a foreign concept?

I didn't like the way those poll results were coming out.

Darlin' I'm not worried about me. Your post came across as a threat to the POTUS. So did you threaten the president?

The president sounded positive and confident this evening. I like his plan to tackle the effects of this disaster head on. There is a need to rebuild this area and help in its economic development.

The only thing I disagree with is the president's idea of having Blanko and Nagin decide how to spend the money. Its crystal clear that these two are clueless. If they are allowed to spend the money according to their wishes, these billions will disappear with nothing to show for it.

There is not a federal program in existence that has not been rife with fiscal corruption and mismanagement. I have no doubts that this proposed boondoggle will be no different.

"Well, when you're a simpleton, the least little thing probably comes as a huge shock."

As usual, I'm duly impressed with your rapier-like wit.

Now don't you have better things to do at the moment...like ironing your 'Bush-Cheney in 2000' undergarments?
