Actually I was a little suprised at the information. I think the perception has been thrown off these past few weeks because the majority of the population in NOLA are black... many going back for generations.
I live in NC; we just had Ophelia; we were ready.......just like we always are; and it was because of our GOVERNOR......and he's a Democrat, but he did and always has done a great job!
And we aren't sitting around here waiting for FEMA to show up.

I actually don't like the President's spending........on things like the Farm Bill and the Transportation bill.
But this is money for people in great need (and your johnny one note 'flood insurance' song is irrelevant after the fact).
Do you even have a clue as to the level of destruction there is in an area as large as the entire United Kingdom? Are you aware that entire communities are completely GONE? Do you really believe that we, as a free and caring people, should not help rebuild the Gulf region for the good of our country and our economy?

The President has proposed helping these people get themselves back on their feet. Conservatives should be applauding that.

Bush is the biggest spender in the history of this country. His spending, even if you take out military spending, is the largest ever! How is this conservative?
Rather than addressing domestic issues with a conservative approach, he throws federal money at them.
what do you think this is about? 50 billion is already committed - if it were just that, you wouldn't see people here (well some maybe) complaining about the fiscal aspect of this. the bill is going higher, much higher. watch it unfold - I think it will be 200+ billion before its all over.

I call it a typo. Why have not addressed the massive spending that Bush has engaged in? That was my poinnt and you've done nothing but focus on minutia.
He mentioned day care to allow them the ability to get an education and a job. IMHO incentive to have babies to collect welfare needs to be looked at in the equation.
