If not disowned him, he would have definately schooled him on how far he's drifted from the path.

The liberal agenda needs hopeless, helpless followers that knows nothing about empowerment.

He's done nothing, from my point of view, to build on MLK's legacy.

Je$$ie & Al have spent the last 40-odd years doing just the opposite of MLK.

I don't think I've ever availed of the "abuse" button to nail someone. But I'm thinking your post, "mercy" might be my first. Criticize his ideas, rail away with your own proposals.

DO NOT ad hominem President Bush on this board.

Bad language, and disgraceful cyber conduct are happily allowed in OTHER forums.

Sad how many are seduced by the theatrics and not the substance.

The difference is he encouraged the poor to actually work and not depend on welfare. He is promoting an entrepreneurial renaissance to rebuild the city's economy. With tax credits and incentives for small businesses. Yes the government is spending money but it will be mostly on infrastructure. Unfortunately people like you need this explained and don't have the intellectual capacity to see it yourself.

Oh come on, for starters, LBJ was not responding to a hurricane.

You don't see any Great Society similarities? If you don't, it's just because you choose not to. If Clinton or anyone with a (D) next to their name had given this speech, this board would be up in arms screaming about socialism.

I noticed the President said the local government will have the responsibility for planning for the future, nowhere did I hear,

"But ultimately, you, the people hit by this devastating natural disaster, are responsible for your own future, your family, your lives."

The Great Society. War on poverty. Yes I remember LBJ all the way. W has lost it. Pledging war on international poverty, embracing BJ Clinton

What part of "Enterprise Zone, Home Ownership, Tax Breaks" do you not get. These are not something LBJ would have ever proposed.

why did W feel the need to "address the nation"? Especially since all be brought is, "let's spend a bazillion dollars and make everything good?

Where do you live? If you live near anyplace that has some of these evacuees, call your local workforce commission. Scrape together a couple hundred dollars and offer a little yard work or housework to one or two of them.

Do something. Stop griping. It's unseemly, don.

>>Why did none of these people have flood insurance?<<

I saw a report on the local news that some did buy floo insurance and now the companies won't pay because it's the wind that caused it.
