"Is white bed linen a racist symbol if is on your bed?"

LOL!!

Well, the white dude's mouth prolly assisted greatly in this altercation. Sometimes, a little dose of shut-my-mouth helps, unless one has the wherewithall to back it up.

Attacking those jerks would be akin to bullying. Look at them, they're skinny, pale and out of shape.

you also have to hear other people's chagrin

Maybe, but he did more than just "hear" it didn't he?

I wonder if Byrd was under one of them hoods.

"Racist or not, we either have free speech or we don't."

Actions have consequences. You may think all speech is free but that is incorrect. The First Amendment protects your speech from GOVERNMENT interference. Your neighbor may still legally bash your nose if you speak "fighting words".

I think the courts have ruled that certain types of speech can be restricted in schools if that form of speech is an impediment to the learning procees for other students. Sory of a modified you can't yell fire in the movie house sort of thing. I think this would certainly apply here.

I have to wonder out loud what would happen to a black kid who made a racial slur against whites? You can't tell me that never happens. Would he be punished?

A white kid would be branded racist for daring to question the black kid's remarks.

No. If you read the whole story you'd have read that the white kid chose not to press charges.

Ok, that shirt was completely unacceptable. That being said, how much do you want to bet that these kids get away with assault because they were OFFENDED.

Well, if you use the often devoid of intelligence, liberal logic, the black kid should be charged with assault as a hate crime.

Everybody has a right to freedom of speech/expression. OTOH, everybody has a responsibility to take the consequences of it. In this case, he got his consequences.

The only legitimate consequence is disciplinary action, all the other things are inappropriate. I suppose you wouldn't advocate murder because someone was "offended", would you? Where do you draw the line?

I disagree. There are many reasons to hit someone. One of the reasons this country is in such sad shape is that people are scared to hit someone. Instead they call lawyers.

This kid has a shirt that could pass if it was just a rebel flag, but dragging two blacks behind a car deserves a wuppin.

Now it would be interesting to see what would happen if a black kid had a picture of two whites being dragged behind a car.

I'm afraid I must disagree with you on this one. The t-shirt is the equivalent of "fighting words.

Wrong, wrong, wrong! No,that kid shouldn't have been wearing such a T shirt in school.

Yes,the kid wearing it should have been punished, perhaps even with long term (or even permanent) expulsion.

Yes,any student offended by the T shirt had the right to go to the Principal's office and complain vigorously (same with any kid's parents)

No,the kid had no right to assault the wearer under those circumstances.

And,BTW...the same would apply if the situation was reversed (black kid wearing a T shirt that says "Kill Whitey",white kid assaulting him).

I agree. The press will undoubtedly rally behind the black student as having a "right" to lash out at something offensive.

I'm sure that there a quite a few of us who are sick and tired of being called racists by unelected black leaders, but we're expected to sit there and take it. The mere existence of affirmative action presumes racism by businessmen, regardless of background.

The black student helped reinforce the stereotype of blacks being violent. It's too bad the black student just didn't walk away.
