Do you guys really think the Dems are gonna filibuster?
I wouldn't put it past them, but anyone watching these hearings would have to conclude that Roberts is undeniably qualified and has given no hint to being right-leaning. If they do, they will look ridiculous. Of course, that's not a bad thing.

Don't forget Janice Rogers Brown. The picture of DemoRats trying to "beat up" an attractive, articulate black woman brings endless smiles to my face.
I love JRB! She sounds just like Milton Friedman in many ways!

The Republicans were pretty unified when the votes came through for JRB and Priscilla Owen.
I would bet $$$$ that there will be more 'Rats voting for Roberts than Republicans voting against him. Sheets at least will vote for him.

2 C-Span callers, one an older dem woman, and the other an independent man (usually votes dem) had nothing but praise for Judge Roberts' candidacy.

You are probably correct, but it seems every time the Dims reach bottom, they get out the ole shovels and start digging deeper.

Respectfully, that is absolutely incorrect. He is replacing Rehnquist. His elevation to chief justice was seperate. The reason he is replacing Rehnquist as opposed to O'Connor is because it would enable the court to resume Oct. 1st., with a full court and it allows for more time in selecting a replacement for O'Connor.

Do you guys really think the Dems are gonna filibuster? I don't think they have the political support to filibuster right now. IMO, only two things could change that right now.
- One of the Gang of Fourteen comes out and states that the group agrees that the Roberts nomination represents an "extreme circumstance" and that they will not block a filibuster. That's extremely unlikely, especially given Lindsey Graham's advocacy for John Roberts during these hearings.
- One of the witnesses scheduled for today comes through with some really lurid allegation (like Justice Thomas' "pubic hair on a Coke can") that the Dims can use to demand more time and to sow doubts about Roberts' character. That's a lot more likely then 1.) is.

Biden didn't ask questions today because he didn't want Roberts to once again slap him around for all to see. The others appear NOT to get how foolish Roberts makes each and everyone of them look.
I love it...again proving conservatives are not robots, they've got brains can think quickly on their feet...they've stuck with their values which has kept them free thinkers...not ever wanting government to replace THE LORD.
These goofball dembos were hoping after 40yrs of the welfare state would have turned all Americans into clones of non-thinking anti-Americans...this proves the Power of Our Lord...LOL... ;o)

LOL! Even Dershowitz (on Court TV) thinks the libs acted like asses, with the early ads and the monomaniacal focus on Roe (which I believe he thinks is a bad decision, legally speaking). As a liberal, he wants to see someone as close to the center as possible from a conservative president, and he thinks the lib special-interest groups are insane and spoiling things for "normal" (if that's the word I want) libs.
