Here's the dilemma the dems face. They can't say they will not vote for Roberts because he wasn't forthcoming when records will show he was more forthcoming than others. They can't say he's too conservative lest the pubbies say he's as conservative as Ginzberg is liberal and she was confirmed by a large majority in deference to President Clinton. I don't see any other grounds to deny his appointment.
This lays the groundwork for the next appointee who should study Roberts performance and carefully answer or not answer what's asked. If that person could be as reasoned as he, it would be very difficult for the dems to deny him/her the appointment (that's to say he/she comes with no baggage).

He even said he "felt" she was right, but hadn't done a legal study -- and she's still pushing the question, as if "yes" isn't good enough for her.

Question about Boland Amendment. "Reagan admitted he made a mistake". Trying to put words in Roberts' mouth that he agrees Reagan was wrong. Roberts not buying it. Says he can't answer question in the abstract.

That's right and who should care? It's about following the constitution and rule of law, not about his views on the issues.
I hate liberals.

Other than the unspoken grounds that special interest groups will cut off their contributions.

This guy is not going to answer anything in the abstract, at what point will they figure that out? yet they are perfectly willing to accept "that depends on what the definition of is is." Mercy!

Roberts spanking Feinswine for misunderstanding
Gonzaga case.
Nice legal lecture by Roberts to one of the dumbest members of the Senate (a lot of competition there)
