James Doohan
March 3, 1920 - July 20, 2005
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,60-1701993,00.html
Actor who achieved immortality as Scotty in Star Trek
THE actor James Doohan achieved cult status as the chief engineer Scotty in Star Trek, the 1960s TV series.
(snip)
On June 6, 1944, Lieutenant Doohan of the Winnipeg Rifles, 13th Field Regiment, took part in D Companys landing on Juno beach. The company disembarked from landing craft at 7.30am, and dashed through rifle and machinegun fire to reach the shelter of the sand dunes. Doohan silenced a German machinegun post with a few shots but was wounded later that day. He was hit eight times, four times in his left leg, and one round hit him in the chest only the cigarette case in his breast pocket saved him from a mortal wound.

It's dead, Jim.
I was a Trekkie, long ago and far away, in another universe. (Yes, mixed metaphors) I remember first-run Star Trek.
I was also an attendee at the first West Coast Star Trek Convention, in Los Angeles. 1971. That was a LONG time ago.

It was a sad day when Scotty passed on. He was a hero and achieved fame through his role as Scotty.
Thanks fo the link.

So you know if anyone has released that on CD? I'd like to have a legal copy I can use in high school government classes.

"Thank You for your service to our nation."
You're welcome. It was my pleasure. Thank you for yours. Having been in the military during a time when that service was not appreciated, I appreciate those who appreciate my brothers and sisters at arms, past, present, and future.

Oh, I am not Military, but come from a strong military family. I grew up in a world not littered with PC and disrespect for our brave heroes.
We in The Canteen, have a mission to support our troops and their families.

And now a word from our real Sponsors of Free Speech
The Men and Women who serve,
and have served, our country
are the ones who make sure that
the Politicans and Judges are free to do their job.
We would not have a US Supreme Court
without the protection of the Military.
Politicans and Judges are safe
because of the Military who protect them.
TEST : Call your Senator or Congressman's office
AFTER 5 PM, or on the weekend.
IF you speak to an actual person, ask who's in charge today?
Now look up the phone number
of your local military base.
Call that number 24/7
and ask the live voice you get
to speak with the person in charge.
Send a Thank You while you enjoy your Freedom also.
Click on a service emblem to send an online
Thank You to a service man or woman in any branch.
