Just heard on top of the hour on Fox News Radio
Different case. USSC said Newdall didn't have standing since he didn't have custody of his kid (who by the way in a born again Christian and has no problem herself saying the pledge). He refiled on behalf of several other parents who do have standing. Thus, it was basically a new case in District Court (the Lowest Federal Court).
No, it's a date.
If they wanted to include God in the Constitution, they would have. You're making a huge reach.
True at times I tend to be a master at stating the obvious...
I'm also a cheesehead....grew up in sheboygan for 20 years then moved to Wisconsin south (Arizona) after the service... :)
its a joke.... But if it came to that and God asked me to fill in... I would :)
No, I'm not making a reach at all.
It is evidence of the worldview to which they subscribed.
If not, then we'd find such dating and to the same degree in today's America. We do not.
It is entirely different than saying, September 14, 2005. When I instead say, "In the year of Our Lord, September 14, 2005" then I am alluding to something.
What do you think that something is?
Atheism is as old as the nation itself, but atheists can't be happy with just themselves holding that position. They proselytize more than any believer does in academic settings.
I enjoy them as my countrymen but don't look to them as moral leaders.
When are people going to get over it and realize what this country was founded on!
This is more a call to agnosticism then atheism.
A little info on the previous case in the same school district.

"Don't forget Arnold Schwartzenegger (sp?)"
And, of course, our host, Jim, right here on Free Republic. We don't want to forget that Californian.
"That something" is a spirit of formality.
If they intended to include God, why do you think they snuck him in at the back? Why not put Him right up front?
How about we declare it unconstitutional for traitors to live amongst us?! I like that idea better!
it's Michael Newdow again... good grief!
Maybe We can hook him and Cindy S. up for a date.
and I stand by what I noted earlier--itmakes no difference what the motivation was it tied the pledge to the National
Anthem-and to the Motto--and to the Gettysburge Address--and to American history--and to that Prayer room with image of George Washington in prayer surorunded by Christian imagry. And I most certainly Do agree there was NO national
religion established -nor intended to be established. The
slaves to that godless organization the U.N. and other useful idiots who misinterpret the First Amendment as matter of creature comfort have misinterpreted the Constitution since 47 when a Ku Klux Klansman and the
transmission belts to Soviet Communist Dictatorship perpetrated Fraud in erecting a "Wall of Separation"--
As it is written "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation;and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand." (How many years ago was that written?) Old Ben Franklin At the Constitutional Convention on Jun.28,1787 rightly rmeinded his peers they had neglected to pray -As we did when "sensible of danger"
he cited form memory relevant Biblical authority of no less than five distinct passages in that single speech. And before that when Congress approved Military chaplains on 9 July 1776 General George Washington issued General Orders that expected "Every Officer and Man to endeavor so to live and act as becomes a Christian Soldier . . . "And we were taught that at Ft. Campbell Ky .June-August 1969.Yet
recently Gen.John Weida of the USAFA had to defend his honor against spurious charges among them having cited in
Command Guidance e-mail "Remember you are first acocuntable to your God." And the blithering idiots insisted he had
acted wrongly?
The state had the authority to do that forever. It took modern form with the Comstock laws. Partly on moral grounds and partly on health grounds. It leads to bastardy and to STDs. But it depends on its force on community values. When bastardy looses its stigma and STP's their deadly effect, then the law becomes toothless anyway.
That something is more than formality. It was part of the culture.
