I clearly recall a recent "pork" addition to an appropriations bill to help the "struggling" native salmon populations of Alaska. Hmm... in trouble are they?

And this is the same Valdez that, due to the tanker accident "caused by EVIL OIL", the enviro-nazi's wailed would be "RUINED FOR GENERATIONS!"

Poor little guys. They bust their butts swimming against the current, spawn, and then die.
I'm thinking I must have been a salmon in a past life...

Cool. Maybe now the cost of Sockeye and Chinook will finally come down.

Lynn Kent, a water quality regulator with the state Department of Environmental Conservation, said the dead hatchery fish don't appear to violate state pollution and nuisance statutes.
"We really couldn't find a good connection between those and what's happening with the Valdez situation," she said.
In recent years, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has fined Alaska fish processors for improperly disposing of fish carcasses, guts and other wastes. Spokesmen for the agency said Friday they would check whether the unharvested hatchery fish pose a pollution violation.
Funny how when the fish carcasses occur naturally, it's acceptable, (AKA the gubmint refuses to pick up the tab).

"unharvested pink salmon"
pink?
unharvested?
Why bring race into this I suppose all the 'white, rich, upper class' salmon were all harvested first.
Get FEMA up there right away!

I'm wondering myself why they release so many humpies. In terms of taste and marketability they're really inferior salmon. Kings, silvers and sockeyes are much tastier.
