He's accepting responsibility for what is his responsibility. Now the question becomes exactly what was that? He's shifted the 'Bush's fault' equation to 'what exactly was Bush's fault (and by extension, the fault of others)?'

No surprise there. The Federal Government failures (if any) should properly be laid at the feet of George Bush. Lets see if Nagin and Blanco own up to the failures at the state and local level. Somehow I doubt it .

Bingo! It's not like he's getting a lot of help from the Senate.

He's taking responsibility for the FEDERAL response.

Now let's see the other officials "state" and "local" stand up and take their blame.

I think the Rats are actually disappointed. They thought by relentlessly attacking the President, he would take the bait, but he didn't.

In the end, he comes out smelling like a rose, and the Rats are once again exposed for what they are. Strategery at it's finest.

I think he said that he would accept responsibility for some of the shortfalls with respect to the federal side of the response.

Blitzer(did you see his high chair) is wrongly, portraying it as the Pres. taking full responsibility.

I don't know about you but I want an investigation. Blanco got people killed. Nagin was incredibly incompetent. The more that gets out about what FEMA can't/isn't supposed to do, the better.

At first I didn't like it, but after reading some comments, and thinking about it, I thought, that's what a real leader would do. I think he just gets totally disgusted about all the junior high blame going around. A lot of energy and time is being totally wasted pointing fingers. So now let's get to work, find out what happened and learn from this thing so next time we can do better.

I think it's GWBush the leader and CEO at work again.
Enough is enough!

"Taking the blame" is not good enough.

The democrats will demand a public apology address to the nation.

He said blame for fed govt but implied all levels of govt broke down and he would take blame for fed govt part

I would much rather him say the same thing to reporters that he said to Pelosi.

I don't pretend to know everything about the FED response but every comparison I have made with past disasters have revealed the Fed response after Katrina/Flooding was ON TIME.

I believe any investigation that is FAIR will reveal the LOCAL and STATE GOVT to be the MAIN culprits and that THEY slowed any Federal response if indeed it was "SLOW".

Bush, speaking with Talabani to the press____said that there will be reviews of what went wrong and what went right.

I know what the main problem was

All the streets in New Orleans are named "Blame Street"
That's why their evacuation plans were so confusing.

Yes. I heard him say that. Think we'll hear anything similar from Blanco and Nagin?
